Got a beater
Whoo-hoo....DH and I bought a beater today. A fairly decent truck for $1500. (Cash, of course...and no, we didn't touch our emergency fund.) We'll put up my vehicle for sale for around $11,000. It's paid off, so anything we get out of it will pay off DH's car, plus give us several thousand left over. It's funny to be excited to go down in car status. Yep...Dave has made a difference.
How much we enjoy what we have is more important than how much we have. Life is full of people who have more than they know what to do with, but cannot be content. It is the capacity to enjoy life that brings contentment.---Unknown

Wow I am in awe that you took that leap. I am not there mentally nor financially yet. I rolled it around in my brain and can't get there.
I am so impressed when someone else gets brave. Great job!!

Congrats! We're thinking of selling dh's truck and getting a much cheaper vehicle to replace it with. It would knock out a good chunk of debt. I am very excited at the thought of it, even though I would be getting the cheaper vehicle and dh would get mine.

Congrats! I'd love to get rid of our minivan debt, but alas, we have 4 children and plan on more sometime in the semi-near future, so we kind of need it... It's also our only vehicle, so it needs to be reliable, kwim? So instead we are just slowly knocking out the debt to keep it so we can start a new car fund (which we have started seriously thinking is going to be for a 15-passenger van 8-| LOL).

Congrats!
That's got me thinking that I should budget some money to fix up the car which is sitting in the garage. We don't have to use that one now, but when DD comes back next year, she will take back her car, which I am using now.

How's the beater running?
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
