FPU question
Background; we took the class a little over 8yrs ago when our dd was a baby. We didn't graduate. DD got really sick (I found out later she should have been hospitalized) and had to have round the clock breathing treatments. I didn't want to take her out and the class didn't want to come to our house. We listened to the tapes at the same time as the class watched the videos. So, I feel we were as faithful as we could be. I have looked off and on for another class close to us but haven't found one or missed the cut off to sign up.
What did we really miss out on? I can get the accountability here. What are the benefits of "completing" the class?

AFAIk, a nifty certificate.
You can always go anytime, too - FPU membership is lifetime. If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

ThreeTwo mortgages, twooneno car loans, oneno credit cards, and a partridge in pear tree!

That was kind of what I thought but wasn't sure.
I would like to take the class again but I have all my stuff and ya'll. I don't see a need to spend the money (gas, child care, etc).

Wow, how did I miss this?
Yes CONTACT THE COORDINATOR - many of them are offering child care for the classes. If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Nearest class is 86 miles away, during the week at 6PM. Next class is 100 miles away, during the week at 6:30PM. It isn’t worth going so far just to get a piece of paper.

That is too far of a drive.
Have you thought about hosting a class? After teaching something, you really learn it.
Hope all goes well with you!

I'd say keep checking back with the website to see if any open up nearer to you. Say, check once a month or so. If one does pop up and you are still wanting to, then by all means go. It seems as if even after all this time it is on your mind. No harm in finishing something you started, but don't put yourself in a bind to do so.
I went to a free session and really did not care for the teacher so I'm watching for another to be held elsewhere. If I'm going to sit through numerous classes, I want to have a positive start.LDR

Challenges for 2012:
2012 Grocery Budget Reduction Challenge- $100 a month. (down from $150) Hm, might be too low.
Electric Usage Challenge (doing well, under $70 most months)
Yah, I suck at this money stuff, I know. That's why I'm here.

we are currently attending FPU and I would recommend checking into the fact that membership is lifetime If I remember correctly you can view the sessions on line I haven't spent much time yet looking at the website but my husband has and keep checking to see if there is one upcoming in your area or even talk to someone about starting one (my father-in-law is teaching the one we are taking at our church)
