HELP!!! They are trying to have me committed!!
HELP!!!
My family (one sister and two brothers) are trying to have me committed to the psychiatric hospital
all because I followed some advice from this forum!!
I read here on FV of a person who had purchased a small refrigerator (the same size college students use in their dorm rooms) to use in her apartment which already came furnished with a full size refrigerator ...reason being that the small refrigerator used a lot less energy then the full size refrigerator. I thought it was a good idea so I did likewise. I purchased a 3.3 cu ft. refrigerator (which of course was on sale) and you know it held everything which I needed and I unplugged the full size, older, energy guzzling refrigerator which came with my apartment. As an added benefit at least I do not have to worry about food getting lost on the shelfs of my smaller refrigerator, I would regularly find old/moldy items in my big refrigerator which had inadvertantly been pushed to the back of a shelf.
My family thinks I am NUTS!!!
I guess like Dave Ramsey says "You know you are doing the right things when your broke friends make fun of you" in my case it is my broke relatives.
I can not wait to see the reduction in my electric bill!!!

Be sure to hit them where it counts. The wallet!
Show them a comparison of electric bills when you get them.
That'll shut them up.

Don't let them get you down. You are an adult and this is a free country. Even when you show them your energy/money savings, they will still make fun of you. IGNORE THEM!

They must be jealous that they didn't think of that before! I think it is a great idea, why waste electricity and money on something you're not going to fully utilize!

~I was wondering how much you could save by doing this and found this: How much energy does a refrigerator use? - by Mr. Electricity . You're going to see a huge drop in your electric bill! What a cool idea! I'll bet you have a lot less wasted food too.

Are you going to use the savings to eventually buy a larger, efficient fridge?~~Constance

Join the club I get made fun of all the time by relatives and neighbors that can't even pay their bills. The ones making fun of me get shut off notices every month for their utilitiy bill here. They get more money to live on than I do and I always have extra money in the bank for whatever comes up.And yes no matter what they will still make fun of you those kind always do.Just maybe someday they will be sitting in the dark with no electricity while you have money in bank. Then you can laugh.

I think it's great that you're doing what you feel is right for you. Just remember, there was a time in history where people thought the world was flat and if you'd told them otherwise they'd have said you were crazy!
