Default life insurance and health insurance

My husband has lost his job and we are living on bare minimum, should we get health insurance before life insurance. (premiums cheaper, so we can afford that now) or should we skip the life and put that to a health premium?

Any rec's on health insurance here?

IMHO health ins. always pays for itself esp. if you have children. You should qualify for COBRA?? 1 big disaster could wipe you out the rest of the way. Good luck on his finding something else.

COBRA is usually super expensive. depending on what state you live in, i would defintiely research indiv hlth plans.

Completely depends on your situation. For me an individual with no kids, Health insurance was my first priority. I did not go with COBRA as it was horribly high. I got in touch directly with Anthem and got a personal policy. It gives me 2 trips to the dr a year for $30 and I believe pretty much everything else is 80/20 as long as it is in the network. So the insurance isn't great, but it gets the job done and its only $135 a month for me.

I thought about life insurance, but I have enough assets to pay for my burial and with no survivors to take care of, that will be plenty.

If I need to go on Cobra it will be $400 a month for very good coverage; including prescriptions. If I get health ins through bc on my own it is $350 a month with no prescription and I have to pay office visits.

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
