Default How did you get Gazelle Intense?

I'm curious how others got Gazelle Intense. What did you give up that you never thought possible, or the craziest or most creative thing you did.

    Thanks!

It doesn't sound like much but I used to eat out lunch 4 times per week. Now I'll go out to eat maybe once/week. That's made a huge difference.

The most effective thing we've done is sticking to the budget.

How?? I was tired of being broke! LOL

We didn't use paper towels, paper napkins, paper plates, heating cycle on the DW, wore jeans more than once and didn't buy new shoes for over a year! There is so much more we did, but you can find most of those ideas on here already.

One winter, we didn't use central heat. We bought a $20. space heater and moved our daughter (only had one at the time) into our room downstairs and used the heater in there. Turned off the hot water heater straight out of the shower, hadn't even gotten dressed yet. Hung my clothes on a line and we didn't have a yard.

Would I do it again?? YES!!! I love having lived like that to have the life we have now!

we were pretty frugal to start with always have been so i could work the least possible- about the only time i wasnt was at christmas and i still did it pretty cheap compared to what others did around me . alot of our issues were secondary to a medical issue that kept me from working for 7 years and then just very PT for another year .

right now i am working more to pay down faster.

Thank you. Never thought of not using the heat. But we do keep it very low!

What motivated me? Had to borrow money from my kids bank accounts to pay for gas/food.

What did/have we done? ate road kill (only if I saw the animal killed), used dish towels for diapers and bread wrappers for plastic pants, picked up aluminum cans along the road to turn in for $$, begged for dropped fruits from neighbor's trees, cut out the bad parts and ate the rest. . . made winter items for my kids from worn out old men's socks (scarves, mittens, hats, turtle necks, and cuffs)

It's something DR explains in his TMMO book on how to really get intense on paying off your debt, what you could sell, sacrifices or making extra income to put towards you debt....getting serious about knocking it out.

I'm sure someone could explain it better than I can.

I know this is an old thread but I thought Id revive it since its new to us and we just started baby step 1 and are now on baby step 2. Paid off a $796 CC that I had been carrying for over 3 years by paying the minimum. I was spending about $15 a week on a coffee and bagel and about $50 a week in lunches. For the past 3 weeks I have been making coffee at home and packing lunch every day. Another thing that we were doing was going to our local diner at least once a week for breakfast and a few times we would order dinner in. I must admit, yesterday we went to the diner for lunch and I bought my wife her mothers day gift. She is a nurse on the overnight shift and she "wanted" a Nook for those quiet hours to read at work. Seeing how hard she works outside the home and at home with our children, I didnt have the heart to tell her that the Nook was as much as our car payment for the month. So with a smile on my face and love in my heart, I simply said, Happy Mothers day baby. Yes a week early, she is working next mothers day so we celebrated it early. But saving the money on breakfast and lunch and dinners has definitely given us a leg up. Another thing that i was doing was that i would go to the Home Depot and buy junk i didnt really need, so i cut that out. That easily saves us 200 to 300 a month. Thanks for all of your wonderful ideas.
