MS SOL is 3yrs. I looked it up when Greebo brought it up. The other guy's ins paid the hospital and the gentleman. So, DH owes the ins co. I'm not sure how they do all that.
We live in a rural area and it is normal for dr, lawyers and etc to have offices in 2 or 3 different towns. They were also recommended to me on another issue.
I do worry what is on his credit report. When he bought THE truck I was so mad, he thought I was going to leave him. He may be worried I would leave if I see it. Not something I want to talk about with the 2 LOs around. My mom never offers to keep the kids. So this may be a sign, unless she backs out.

Depending on how you feel about doing so, you can always pull his credit report. If you know his info and can answer some basic questions, you can pull it through www.annualcreditreport.com. It will provide one free copy of each report per year (if you want the score you have to pay).
I pull hubby's each year, not because he is hiding it, but because I handle all the finances.
If your state is joint debt/joint asset, I'd definitely be pulling it.McD

Without explicit authorization, a spouse may not legally pull their spouses credit:
Husband and wife credit report issues, marriage, divorce and spouse joint accountsIf you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

You're better off knowing than not knowing what is going on with this debt. The sleeping debt could wake up and take the form of harassing collectors, a lawsuit, or maybe the IRS coming to tax you on a debt the collector wrote off.
Are you sure this type of debt falls within the statute you looked up?

If the statute of limitations in your state is 3 years and it's been over 3 years since last payment was made ...WITH THE SAME people trying to collect then it's undoubtedly over unless you don't want it to be...could be why you haven't heard from them.
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

SOL is 3yrs on everything but land (7yrs) and something else that didn't apply (1yr). It has been with the same people from the beginning until last contact about their new address.
My fear is that we will save the BS3 money, get oldest in college and then they will wake up. DS wants to be a forensic pathologist. He knows he will have to come up with most of the money but I want to help as much as I can.
I just don't and never have liked being in debt.
I told DH that if mom gets the dc this weekend and he felt like it I wanted to talk. He said he wasn't giving me a divorce. What? Guess that says a lot about our communication doesn't it. I take the blame. With my ex I talked too much and I guess with DH I don't talk enough.

I think I would set aside money to pay the IRS if the owner of the debt writes it off. I would also do a little research on the court process if I get sued like how to answer the suit and what the fees are to file an answer. Just to be prepared in case that happens.
