Default Just paid off one student loan!!!

Woo-hoo! One down, one SL and car payment to go! Well, the car payment was going to be paid off today, too, but I had it on automatic withdrawal on my bank's billpay and didn't know it wouldn't let me cancel that. So that'll get done either tomorrow or Monday, once I know that payment went through, and I can get that final pay-off amount. My tax refund is supposed to be deposited tomorrow. As soon as that's in there, I will pay off that last student loan, and we are DONE! Woo-hoo! Doing the happy dance and praising the Lord tonight! God is so good!!!!

Our next task will be deciding whether or not to pay off my dh's student loan that his parents are paying for him. There's less than $4,000 left on it - I just want it gone! Otherwise it'll be 2013 before it's paid off (and his parents are also paying nearly double the minimum every month).

Great Job and Congratulations! Isn't it a great feeling to accomplish such a task.

I would certainly pay off the rest of the loan. It can be a tremendous mark of pride not just for the two of you but for his parents to know that he is willing to take over the responsibility for them since it was his education.

Thanks, all! I just paid off my huge student loan, so just the car left. It went through my bank, but not on their end yet. I am calling every morning until it does, and then turning around and paying it off in the same 5 min. LOL Doing more happy dances!!!

We have offered in the past - but we think it's more a sense of pride on their part since they paid/are paying for his sisters and brother. I think they don't want the kids to think it was unfair somehow. But we brought it up, so why would we think that, ya know? But we'll see. We'll be heading out to visit them sometime in the next several weeks. We'll probably approach the subject with them again then. I want to pay it off so badly, and I know my dh is itching to get it gone, as well. It's just so little money left, it's silly NOT to pay it off! Even if they just pay us that amount back if they insist, at least they'll get it "interest-free" from then on, kwim?
