Good bye, my cc.....hope you like collecting DUST!
Paid the last $177 on my cc yesterday- YAY! Not closing the account, will use to put gas in the car from time to time then pay it right off to keep it 'active' for my credit score as we hope to move and purchase a different house in 3-5 years, but it feels GOOD....esp. since I have had such a run-around about my rate recently- they doubled it a while back, kept promising to lower it such-and-such a date, never would, always denied they had promised that- so I paid off $2k + in about 2 months- no more worry about the interest rates. I know I will have to pay $2-3 interest next month since I held the balance for part of the billing cycle, but I'm calling it 'done' now!
Won't be playing with THAT snake again! Now onto the last debt- $5985 on hubby's business LOC- have that done by 11/11 and we'll be debt free except the mortgage!

Congratulations and all that, but if they have messed you about with lies and dishonesty about the interest rate why do you intend to remain their customer? The only way these idiots will ever get the message is if enough people vote with their feet and move to competitors who treat their customers fairly.
Happy for you though, it must be a great feeling.

I'm with petrolhead - get rid of that card! Tell them who's the REAL boss of your money.

If you really feel you need a credit card to keep up your score (you don't, btw, just paying your electric/gas & cable bills keeps your score going), get a charge card from Target or Kohl's or wherever you shop. We save 5% at Target every time we shop there and use the card, and then we go home and pay it off. Kohl's sometimes has deals when you use their charge card, as well. You can only use those at that particular store, and like I said, we go home and pay it off immediately. I rarely let it go overnight. You do have to be disciplined for that, though. We only have those cards for the discounts we get, not for the credit aspect, which we could care less about.

It's my one and only cc- closing it would mess with my credit score too much, which again, I'll need a few years down the line when we move- otherwise I would HAPPILY do so! I have no 'store' cc's or gas stations or anything, it's my one 'revolving' debt, and I have no installment loans in my name aside from our mortgage- my credit history is actually not too lengthy in terms of past/present accounts.
