The Great Recovery!
Hey Ramsey fans and those looking for a way to get us out of this economic crisis! I'm pretty excited to hear Dave talk about something new and inspiring!
He is calling it The Great Recovery and it's a grassroots movement to change the economy from the bottom up! The government can't fix it - but WE can, one family, one church, one community at a time! There will be a free kickoff event on Thursday, July 21, as Dave addresses leaders from around the nation. I just registered to see how I can help. Watch the trailer here: The Great Recovery - thegreatrecovery.com and jump on board!

~I'm all for people to get excited and motivated to change things for the better but what exactly are they trying to do here? Isn't it more of the same only preaching about it?
I mean, is this where Money Makeover crosses the line form "My finances" to "Your finances" and renames itself The Great Recovery?
I'm certainly interested in what he has to say though. But short of creating communes, I don't think even grassroots organizations can stand up against government bureaucracy. The elected powers will find some way too squelch any enthusiastic idea that appears to be working because they weren't smart enough to think of it first.
Maybe he will recommend modern communes.

All I know is we need something POSITIVE to focus on, to work towards! I don't think what we're doing now is working for us!! I will reserve judgement until I hear what he has to say on July 21st. I've already contacted my church to see if we can simulcast the event there and what I can do to help!

I wonder if he watches Glenn Beck... Because it's very similar to what he's doing. Except his is more of a political thing rather than a faith thing.

In a way communes are the right answer but not in the way people meant before. Growing some food, trading grown food, sharing tools, watching each others kids, trading favors.
I think sharing homes as kids can't afford to leave will be the wave of the future. I can see my DD and now BF (future Dh?) living in my MIL doing our yard work as we get older and such. Me watching kids for them as they work outside the house.
Maybe a concept to revisit.
Most things start kinda sideways and underground. Don't they?.

Very Interested
Hello!
I have been hearing a lot about "The Great Recovery" since I listen to Dave Ramsey's show every day. I have to say that I am interested in hearing what he has to say. I understand the concern that some people have about him just capitalizing on the fear that others have about the economy/deficit, but like others, I will wait to pass final judgment until I hear what he has to say. I can't blame the guy, though, the guy is just offering a service and people are interested. Even if he does say the same things, just in different form, it's because what he says has stuck and helps many people get out of debt.
I know the debt in the country is monumental and there is a lot of "red tape" that might prevent action, but all the greatest movements have been "grass root", so who knows what might come of this. I am excited to find out.
Have a great evening!
In the process of going from debt to set,
