    Default Just getting started!

My husband and I just realized (yes we were the type to never look at the numbers on purpose) that we have $60k in debt!

We are selling the truck, moving, selling anything we can think of and starting our snowball.

It is really hard to get the snowball moving. We are using change to get formula but he makes over 100k a year. I just had a baby a few weeks ago, AND I have a 15 month old. We also have two teenagers every other weekend.

I have put in so much effort and the ball hasn't even started. It is our first month and we spent all the money at the beginning of the month.

I started a blog to keep up with emotions of this all, someone on the finance forums suggested it.

Anyone else have a hard time getting the ball going?

The hardest step for anyone with anything in life is starting. Good for you for taking a good look at your finances, downsizing or selling and getting a plan together. Being a master of your money is one of the most important steps and sounds like you now want to be in charge of it.

Map out your course, get your budget fine tuned , stick to it, sell what you don't want or need and soon the results will start to flow for you. Blessings to you. Welcome to the board. There is so much advice, wonderful people and ideas that can help you achieve your goal.

Yes! It took us a good 3 months just to get used to a budget. And it took us a couple of years to really get any sort of real snowball going. We paid off our credit cards pretty early on (thankfully, low balances), but we were living on such a cruddy income at that time that those payments went toward just living expenses. Thankfully, my dh got a much better job after that, and we were able to at least live within our means, even though we just kept paying minimums on the student and car loans. We could have done WAY better, but it is what it is, I guess. We have finally paid off everything, and it is great! So stick with it, even when it looks impossible. You CAN do it!

It all starts with one step. You have done that. Keep it up and you will start to see the figures decline and it will get easier. Good luck!
