Speaking of Craigslist...
I have posted stuff for months now on Craigslist, and I am just not getting anything gone! Very frustrating.... I am not that far away from a big city, and I even switched my city to one of the suburbs where my family lives. I visit them often, and my dh works up there, so it's not like I'm "misleading" them, kwim? Anyway, I am just surprised that hardly anything is going. I have my prices set well below Ebay. Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just me?

Craigslist is pretty hit and miss for me. Some stuff does great and goes quickly and others not so much. Maybe you are priced to high?

Have pics for everything, some things several pics. I really don't think I'm priced too high. I am well below Ebay's prices, and comparable or below others' similar items on CL. I think... I'll have to recheck. I just dropped some more prices. I hate to just give it to Goodwill or something since I really kind of want the *money* for it, ya know?
Well, it's good to know it's hit or miss for someone else, too.Sara

I've sold several things on CL with no problem. I have dropped the price on a few things to get them sold and not have to take them to GW. I've always had pretty good luck tho. Maybe it's the time of year, I don't know.

dont look at ebay as far as what they have things priced at you have to look at the completed auctions and see what they actually sold for . its a whole different picture that way
also may be what they are -when $$ is tight people try to sell to make money and people also dont buy extras because of money issues .*~Debbi~*

Depends a lot on what you are selling. And on ours....SO many people post their stuff 3-4 times a day that the sections are flooded with the same junk. I've given up for awhile. Most people don't follow the posting rules, which makes it very hard for those who do.

OH YEAH..........so totally agree with that!!!
Time of year can be a big factor, depending on what you are selling.
I haven't posted anything in a long time but I do a LOT of shopping on CL.
When I start to search for something I automatically eliminate anything w/o a picture by the selection process.
AND........if it is something that needs to fit somewhere (mainly furniture or CUBIC FEET of a freezer) if the person didn't put the DIMENSIONS in the ad I won't mess with it either.
Our CL is flooded with everything right now, due to the economy, but that makes it great shopping.
I figure if the person really wanted to sell it they would put a
little more effort into their ad.............it is free after all,........isn't like they have to pay by the word!!

So many people are selling things in my area that the prices have come way way down. Not good for those selling, but great for those of us buying. That may be impacting you as well. I know I was able to look through 3 pages of baby swings for sale last weekend and found a wonderful one for only $10.00.

Also, with Ebay you have a much larger audience. With CL you are limited to how far people are willing to travel for your item.

I've had good luck with my things but I had some pretty big ticket horse items that I sold for about 1/2 price of new and they were like new still. Haven't really tried to sell any home or personal items yet so maybe it depends on what you're selling, too. I've had friends sell their baby items (strollers, breast pumps and such) fairly quickly. But, again, it was for really high-end items in really good shape at about 1/2 price of new/retail.
In order to try and cross-sell some of it, I'd recommend a photobucket link and post pics of EVERYTHING you're selling in case someone is looking at one of your items, they might be tempted to come and look if there were more than one thing being sold? I am doing that with the horse stuff and some of the buyers have considered it a private garage sale basically. They come and look at the one thing they're interested in but end up leaving with more than that.

Some good ideas, thanks everyone. I think I'll give it a week (so I don't annoy people too much LOL) and then try a larger post. Maybe a mini "garage sale" of sorts? Only without the signs and specific dates and long hours...

Craigslist expressly prohibits *Garage sale* type posts. And links with tons of other pictures to all your other stuff for sale. This is exactly what ruins it for people who follow the posting rules.....
The idea of Craigslist is to post specific items in specific catagories with a price listed.
