If you owe taxes, that money is deducted from your stimulus amount. Some have recieved their's but only by direct deposit, with SS# ending with 00-20. irs.gov has good info

    while we're on the subject.....

has anyone received less than they thought?

We did not receive anything per child, only the $1200/couple.

I can't find any info online to answer the possible "why?"

We just got a letter from our cpa, saying we get $300.00 per, so we only get back $600. I don't know how the figure it, we got back a refund also.

Man I was really counting on that $1200.

Please post if you find somewhere to figure this out.

    Great little tool!

but I can't find anything on the IRS.gov site that can explain the breakdown of why some of us aren't getting the full amount possible.

I'm not complaining. Just curious as to why.

According to some other people I have spoken with (in the military) if one spouse does not work, it kind of works against you for the rebate purposes. Plus the more you make the more the rebate you get. I don't know how much truth there is to this, I would call the IRS to find out. The $1,200 per couple and $300 per child is an "up to" amount, the rest depends on your earnings for the year prior. I dunno....

    I wondered......

Almost our entire income for 07 was non-taxable combat pay, so on paper, our "taxable" income was WAYYYY below poverty level.

so basically, that's like saying, "thanks for serving your pos country, being away from your family for 12 months, oh - and by the way - you didn't make enough money (because we don't pay you enough money) so to thank you - you will receive ZERO of our "up to $300 per qualifing child"

    /end vent.

    thank you.

    thank you.

I believe you were suppose to indicate "non taxable income' that all counts toward the refund.

For instance, if you received SSI... it's not taxable, but you are still entitled to the stimulus check. but you must file a return... to indicate that.

I think you said you had a CPA. just letting you know that- in the event that the CPA didn't let you know.

    PS
Please thank your husband... personally for me. I wish there was was more I could do to show my support for the troops and thier families. But know that it doesn't go unnoticed- the sacrifice you must endure.

The way I've understood it, is that yes, if you meet all of the other requirements (AGI, taxable income, etc.) then yes, you will receive the check even if you owed. I sure hope so, since we owed $2332, would be nice to get that back. If you owe the federal government back taxes, then the amount of your check will be reduced by what you owe them - but if you paid them, you should be all set.

Dh is deployed and we only got $600 dollars. The reason is because we didn't have any tax liabiliy ( we got refunded everything that we paid in). I think you got $600 for both of you as a couple and then got $300 dollars for each child.
