Online Accounts??????
I have been told that online banking is now the way to go. Has anyone had any experience with this?
I am interested in the best rate for a CD to invest our EF. It may also be needed for a wedding. Either way I would like the best rate but am a little afraid of trying it out.
The one I was checking out was ING direct

ING has been fantastic! rates are up there. But I haven't done much looking around for others.

I also use ING direct and I've been pretty happy with it. I haven't looked into any other accounts either, though.

I have ING. You can get a referral from a current account holder, and you'd earn $25. You have to deposit at least $250 to be eligible. I'm sure a couple of rules apply.
I've had no problems. I have numerous ING savings accounts. It does take a couple of days for the funds to be transferred and to become available for use.
Let me know via pm if you'd like a referral. (I'd have the chance to earn $10.)

ing direct research
Thanks for the information. I am going to check it out.
Teach me how to PM and I will give you the credit for a referral
I am so green to posting I couldn't even find this for awhile to see if anyone responded.

Just click on her name and select "Send a private message to Jenna."
That is, if you haven't already figured it out.

We use ING for our savings account mostly because we don't have instant access to it. If you have to wait a couple of days to transfer money, it makes you think more about what you are using it for.

Just my honest opinion, but you really should put an EF in a more liquid account instead of a CD. You want something you can get to quick with no penalties. I would suggest a higher interest savings account (although right now the rates are dropping you can still get one for around 2.75%).
Personally, I use emigrantdirect.com but the others are good too--HSBC, ING, etc.

I'd agree with a more liquid emergency fund, if it's a true emergency, you need to have access asap.
otherwise, I'd also suggest ING.
