Cool I know it's not much but..

I know most of you have already been doing this for years and probably for larger amounts, but for the first time I have been able to set up an automatic transfer of 15.00 every week into savings.

With dh's new job we have figured out that we can finally afford to save.. I know its not much but for us its a start. If all goes well we want to double the amount in a few months.

For a while he hasn't even been making enough to make the ends meet so we just saved when he got a bonus or we saved if we got any cash gifts. But for the first time I feel comfortable enough to commit to a weekly transfer.

    Good for you AnnK!

Listen, that's pretty much how I started saving too. Now mind you, I don't know have a huge hunk of savings yet b/c I'm also trying to focus on snowballing some bills at the same time, but I heard this advice "preached " to me for a long time b/f I just finally decided to it!

For us, it took me getting a parttime job to create the extra, and it doesnt build up fast, but it does build eventually.

Keep your eyes on what you want to accomplish! If your hubby is with you on this, more the better. Mine wasn't, but I do it anyway for my own feeligs of security. :-)

Over the years saving just a little can add up to a nice little cushion to get you thru the bumps in the road if need be.

    Good luck!!!

Woo hoo! Congrats on being able to set it up! We used to do this (before we had the kids) and it was such an easy way to make sure money got in the savings account!

I'm so glad you posted this, becuase we are at the point where we can start putting money into savings again, and I kind of had forgotten that the bank can do it for me automatically! I think I'll go set it up this week!

    So thanks & congrats!

Great job. I have an automatic $50.00 taken out of my paycheck and put into savings each payday. What I don't see I don't even miss.

Ann, that is wonderful. I can't wait to start saving instead of paying off debt. Way to go to you and dh for not just spending it.
