Thumbs up Our June Budget = WOW!

    My goodness...

we're actually not dipping into overdraft at all this month!

June is our toughest month. That goes with September (school) and December (Christmas) and we get a small break in March/April (taxes). This past tax date, we managed to pay off 1600 dollars worth of debt and that got rid of one computer payment. Then we went ahead and consolidated our phone, cable and internet into one package for a deal of 99.95 for at least three months (that covers June, July and August's bills). July and August are good to us because we don't pay 50 dollars per month for DS #1's lunch program but September is hard because we end up paying 165 for busing, along with other expenses. This is what makes me glad I made a budget on paper in the first place!

Anyways, I sat down today and did our June budget. I figured in yesterday as part of the budget because that carries us through the first two weeks of June. DH gets paid May 29th, June 12th and June 26th. Coincidentally, it's also when we set up our mortgage payment to be drawn out of his checking account so that cuts out any missed payments (unless the bank screws up). Everything figured in, this is how we're looking:

Income - 4042.08 (includes three paydays for DH, reimbursement for DS #2's dental from May 20th which will hit my account today or Monday, two child tax credits in my account for both kids)
Bills - 2845.78 (includes groceries of 400, stockpile of 80, and other set bills including yearly property tax bill of 1254.53)

    Total savings = 1196.30!

My budgeting sheet for June covers two pages on my notepad . Of course, the budget doesn't make room for things like gas and smokes for DH, plus bank fees with his bank, but we're on our way to figuring ourselves out!

Congratulations on the savings! It makes me feel so good when I sit down and get everything in writing. It puts me in control.

    Good Luck!

    Thanks.

DH didn't seem too positive about it all, but forget him...this is my little celebration!

It's amazing what a difference it makes just paying attention to the budget isn't it? We used to "wing it" and end up with too much month at the end of the money. Now that we're doing a budget again, it seems so easy to pay what needs to be paid, with some left over. Keep up the good work!

How much we enjoy what we have is more important than how much we have. Life is full of people who have more than they know what to do with, but cannot be content. It is the capacity to enjoy life that brings contentment.---Unknown

It is a great feeling. I lived for a while with my "head in the sand" thinking that was the easy way. What was I thinking. I slept much better knowing what was going on. Even if I had to stretch a little.

Congratulations to having a good month in June!

Too Cool...I agree that it makes you feel so much more in control when you have a budget. It also makes going to work alot easier because you know your money is working for you.

    YEA! That is great news!!

I have to write everything down on paper to be able to see what I have coming in and out too. A budget sure helps me stay straight.
