Default switching from Verizon to Vonage

okat i took a big leap and i purchased Vonage. I dont like change so this was hard for me. i called once before to get info and the guy on the phone was very pushy about me setting up right then and there i had to hangup..he repeated over and over why not let me set you up now?? then he called back twice..until i threaten harrassment..LOL

but verizon my home phone and internet has been running me over $100.00 the DSL and Freedom package. long distance, call waiting, voice mail, and caller id 55.00 plus taxes and fee (which were $15.00this last time!)

i ordered Vonage with the first 2 months free..but i couldnt set it up the way i wanted to so i called to send it back..but they offered me the whole $25.00 a month plan for $15.00 a month for 12 months..so i had to get me a phone set that has 2 or more phones (amazon used $14.00 plus S&H) and so when my phone gets here i will plug everything up and see how it works (i have 30 days)

once i set it up i will cancel my verizon line and keep the dsl which i think will be around $30.00 a month
and they will send an installer free to help me if i want help with the setup

so instead of $110+ a month it should be $40. something a month

anybody else switched? did you like it?

I also have Verizon phone and net. We did have the Freedom package but I took off the extras (call waiting, caller ID Etc) Our bill is $77 per month that also includes the internet.

I have also thought of Vontage and have looked in to it. I just couldn't take the leap because I wasn't reading very good reviews on it. Some said that they paid for the service but when the installer came to install it, the phone line would not work.

I hope it works out for you that is a very good savings. Let us know.

Sorry I can't give you any other feed back.

We've been on Vonage for over two years. I did the setup myself. The quality isn't as good as a land line, but its saving us $900/year so no brainer. We love it for the price.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I also have Vonage and have had it for almost 3 years. I love it. Plus I have friends on Vonage and we can talk for free. The only bummer is if your internet goes out, so does your phone, but since I have a cell phone, I don't worry about it. It's a great savings, in my opinion.

I hate change too, but if it will benefit me I am all for it. I hope that it works well for you.

We have been with Vonage for a couple of years and we have been happy for the most part. I think it's definitely gotten better with time. Also, the money that we are saving with Vonage is enough that I have no intention of switching back to a landline.

I have been with Vonage for 3 years. The service so far has been great with some minor technical hiccups. I have relatives in South America and the long distance charges are the cheapest with Vonage. I have saved hundreds since switching to Vonage.

I called verizon because my bill was getting out of hand. I was paying 82.00 for internet and phone. I was getting a 10.00 price break for having both but it stopped. When I tried to get the 10.00 back the customer service person was of no help. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he was able to reduce my bill by 17.00 a month by removing long distance charge and removing 3 way calling which I had no idea I had to begin with. He also credited my 20.00 for the previous bill and the current bill. So I decided to stay for that price. I figure my bill will be 65.00 a month for both internet and phone. I will however start looking into Vonage to see if it would be worth the change over.

So, you would have internet and a home phone for $48 a month? Is this with long distance too or do you even need long distance? That is fairly cheap and I might consider it if they were to offer it to me at that price.

have verizon cell but changing it ot AT&T when contract is up...they are too much...have AT&T home phone...no extras...if it's busy do like the old days, call back if an emergency call operator to break in line...refuse to pay for call waiting or anything like that, pay a total of $45/month if i make lots of l/d calls and i have dial up aol for $14.95/mo...don't think i need anything high speed...i have call wave on computer so if i am on computer (incase school calls about problems with daughter)and it is $6/month added to phone bill so i don't even realize the cost most times...just my thought on the subject....
