I know you already have a job in the summer, but is it possible to tutor kids this summer? I suppose it might be a little late getting the word out, but it could be worth a shot. Just a thought.

Also, I'm not sure how comfortable you are with this, but have you thought about raising deductible on insurance policies--home and car? It doesn't have to be long term, but just enough to get you through the tough spot.

I know you're frugal to the bone Amy, I'm sure you'll get through another summer. It's just a bit disconcerting, isn't it? Hang in there

Cherie, Another great idea...however, my summer hours are M-F 7:30-5:30. Perhaps on the weekends, but I am also trying really hard to be careful not to burn myself out and to try to enjoy some downtime as well. If it gets too desperate, my piano lesson parents have said they'd love to keep the lessons going in the summer. I usually stop in the summer just for a little free time, but we'll see.

In the meantime, I've got my clothes hanging on the line, am eating from the pantry and fridge, and we're enjoying lots of free, family time that doesn't cost a thing!

Amy, I'm sorry if I missed some of the details the first time around. However, when you posted your mortgage payment, wow. Thats steep. Other than saying, "sell the house", all I can say is, best wishes!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
