    Default so stressed about mortgage

went online to check our mortgage and discovered that instead of renewing it at 5.2% for a 5 year closed .. they did a 6 month open at 8.9%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I already left a message at the branch and called telephone banking .. how stressfull. I wont get any answers until monday. telephone banking figures they forgot to do the keying / send in the paper work and it auto renewed (thats what it would auto renew at), but ahhh that doesnt help me .. I need to see it in black and white that it's fixed NOW ugh .. and I have to wait till monday ... I have prove that i signed at the 5.2 so I'm sure I'm ok (better be), but stressful just the same

What does the paperwork you signed say you're supposed to have?

As long as the legal paperwork is right, the bank will fix it online. They have to.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I agree with Greebo, they have to fix it to the correct percentage if it is in writing BUT if you have to renew each year to LOCK IN that rate then I would call to see what can be done.

Ugh...that stinks! I hate it when stuff like that happens. I'm sorry you have to wait until Monday to get it straightened out. Just try to relax until then. I'm a natural worrier and I read somewhere once that worrying serves no useful purpose. It won't help produce a different outcome for you between then and now and you've done all you can. So try to have a better weekend in the mean time. from a natural born worrier.

Sometimes online info can lag. As long as you have your paperwork that shows the 5.2 percent/5 years, you should be okay. Let us know how everything turns out!

Unfortunately not true, I called online banking on Saturday when I saw it & it is set up completely wrong .. he emailed the branch manager and the lady I dealt with at the branch indicating what I was saying etc and asking them to call me asap monday morning ... so it's set up all wrong all together ugh .. also not sure what happens now that its set up wrong should I not receive something for the extra interest charged? no idea how that works etc

You have signed loan papers that say X, right? And the online site says Y?

Ok - the signed loan papers are legally binding. The loan may have been set up all wrong at the bank, but it doesn't matter - your loan papers, signed by both parties, are a legal contract they must abide with.

So just keep calling, get them to sort it out in both places, and make sure you ask them, "What about any accrued interest to date?"

Have you actually made any payments on this mortgage already?

Thank you!! Spoke with my branch of the bank they said could take 4 weeks to correct, that somewhere the bank messed up. I said 4 weeks is not ok ... I want it corrected in 4 days (my first payment comes out friday (today)) and it would mean a huge difference in our payment (over $100) .. so I kept on the bank calling everyday and noticed yesterday by looking online that it is now correct and the correct payment will pull today. WHEW glad that is over. Cant beleive they wanted me to wait 4 weeks - I think not!

AWESOME! Way to make yourself so much of a nuisance that the bank had to do the right thing!

I have nominated Wendy's follow up post because I think this post is extremely important in showing what can happen when you stand up for yourself and let companies who've made mistakes know you're not going to stand for being jerked around about them.

    WTG Wendy!
