Default Anyone else have this problem?/ House insureance went up 50% due to lumber costs.

This is the deal. We pay $732 per year for our home owners insurance thru Allstate. Our agaent left a message to warn us of the cost increase, since our premium is due in August. That same day it came in the mail...it is now $1069 per year plus we have a $500 deductible. Only have made 1 claim on a door a few years back. The information provided was because the cost of lumber has risen outrageously during the last year, this is for the cost replacement plan. I will shop around, but we receive a discount on our other Allstate insurances, auto etc. and DD #2 just got nailed for a speeding ticket, so that has jammed us up and shopping for other insurances. Anyone else experiencing this rising cost?

We also have Allstate, but haven't heard anything about a rate increase. We've never filed a claim.

We have State Farm. Ours only went up $60 for the year. We have not had a claim in over 10 years. Ours does go up a little each year.

We have AAA and it just renewed for the year. It didn't go up at all, but we've never made a claim either.

That seems very odd to me. My bf is a contractor and he's commented several times that the cost of materials has gone down...

State farm, no claims and ours went up about $90. Just got the bill last month. I called and asked why the increase. They cited inflation in replacement costs and each year the house ages the chances of somethign going wrong in/with the house increase.

I have State Farm. The usual increase was applied to this years insurance rate. Never heard such a thing as you were told.
