    Default Home Heating Oil

I am contemplating what to do this year regarding home heating oil. Usually we pre-buy 800 gallons, but with the high prices, the pre-buy prices are essentially the cash prices. It just doesn't seem worth it to lock in at these high prices. I'm thinking of doing an 11-month payment plan at the cash price and take my chances.

    What is everyone else doing?

We have natural gas for heat here and I was having to pay between $16-$20 dollars a month just to run the pilot light so I had them turn it off.......I am going to see how long we can go without this winter, and maybe buy an electric unit to move from room to room......we shall see what happens.

I feel your pain lgw. We had our tank filled in March and haven't used it since. That tank plus our wood is our heat for the season. The oil runs out we will heat with just wood. We are getting off auto delivery with our current company and will shop around from now on.

I hope others plan ahead... meaning don't wait til the last min and plan on others bailing you out. We are all are pushed to the limit and knew this was going to happen months ago, it's no big surprise. One of or government leaders was talking about doubling assistance. Who pays for that?

We are on the budget plan. Right now its $75 a month. We also heat with wood. When its not too cold out but you need heat we run the oil. When winter really hits we heat with the wood. We are trying to cut down on other expenses to compensate if the oil goes up much more. Right now we have a full tank

I prepaid our propane to the tune of $1600. It really bites but I'm guessing it will get higher not lower.
