    Default ING Accounts

Does anyone use a ING Savings Acct? I've been saving up money every week for christmas, and right now it's just sitting in a separate checking acct. I've been too lazy to go to the bank and open a savings acct for it since I have all the kids home for summer vacation. Let me know how its going for you and if anyone has had any problems with them. I guess I'm just leary about the whole online thing even though I do pay all my bills online.

I know of several people who do. I haven't signed on with them, but I have a Schwab account which works about the same way and pays above average interest. I can't recall any horror stories about ING, and Schwab has been outstanding.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I've had an ING account for awhile now, and I love it. The interest used to be great (4.5% when I first signed up) but has come down to 3%, which is still better than my local branches. I also have an electric orange account (paperless checking) that I use strictly for gas since it comes with a debit. Love it!

yep, it was one of my new years resolutions.

I opened it a couple weeks ago. I have never heard anything bad about them so i'm hoping for a good experience.

I've had a savings account with ING for about 5 years now and don't have any complaints. The only "issue" is that it takes 2-3 days to transfer money back out of the account, so you have to plan ahead.

Which for us was a good thing--made it harder to spend money!

I have had an ING account for a few years and have no problems with it. I orginally set it up so that I couldn't get to it immediately, thus making me think more about my spending habits.

Same here thats my only issue is waiting for the money to be transfered over, but that cuts down on impulse purchases. Easy to set up and you can have automatic deposits sent right to it.

I just got something in the mail for an ING account the other day, thinking of opening one. I opened one a few years back, but never funded it.

I have an ING savings account.

One nice thing is that if you open an account with $250 or more and get a referral from a current member, then you get an additional $25 bonus in free money. The person that refers you gets $10 too!

That aside, I have been pleased with my account. I've had no issues. I keep my EF in ING, I don't mind that it takes a few days to access my funds, it's fine my me.

I have savings accounts at both ING and EmigrantDirect and never had any problems with either one. I have heard that they will close your account if you're a "bothersome" customer, such as pestering them too much. Helps keep the overhead down, I guess.

I orignally opened an ING savings account several years back and eventually drained all of the money out. I thought I had closed it but, when I tried to open a new one this year, it recognized my social security number and said I couldn't open a new one. I had to call ING and get them to send out my customer ID and a new password, etc. Pretty quick and painless but I was surprised.

Thanks for the tip, Diane! I'll give them a shout today and see if they can send out my ID so I can look at funding the old account!
