There is hope
I left Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace book laying on the table in the living room a couple of weeks ago. DH picked it up to read during his "library time."
On the way to work this morning (we are carpooling this summer to save on gas, just means I get to work 2 hours early, but I get paid for it so double woohoo) he asked me just what it would take for us to get debt free. We discussed a few things we could do and he seems to be willing to make some changes. We will be having the big "budget meeting" soon. So wish us luck please.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

That's great! It certainly does make things easier when both are on the same financial page so to speak.

turn on dave's radio show in the archives and casually leave it on while you and he are doing chores, or something. that's how i got my dear friend to listen.
11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.
