    Talking Opened my ING acct.

Thanks for all the replies on my previous post regarding the ING accts. Just opened mine yesterday. I also had a check here from ING for an extra $25 for opening the acct. I will have $25 direct deposited every week, plus with a little extra from DH's bonuses and a few extra pay weeks coming up in Aug. and Oct., Christmas should be all set this year. No going into debt this year !!!!!!!!!!!

It is nice to have money somewhere that is not as easily accessible as my checking acct. I feel much better.

WAY TO GO! I love my ing account. It's nice to get a decent savings rate. Also, the money is easier to access than you think. It only takes 2-3 days to have money deposited in your account. I do the automatic deposit too.

If you have kids, you might want to open an account for them. I put just $5 a week in for each of them. Plus, any money they receive for gifts goes right to the account. The nice thing was they got the $25 bonus and I got the $10 for referring them. My girls are just 20 months, but I established an email account for them, and the money comes out of my account. Pretty slick!

I really think you'll love it. I've had mine for several years now, and I have been really happy with it.

I have several ING accounts and so far had no problems. I have money diretly deposited for us and for children.

However, is anyone like me where you feel a little apprehensive about having too much money in there? I feel a little insecure that it's not an actual bank building where I have immediate access. What if something happens and I can't get my money? Am I being a nervous Nelly? Who would you call and where would you go to get your money if something happened with ING and they went under? Far fetched, I know, but all this talk about economy has me nervous.

What I plan to do is continue saving in those accounts. When they all reach several thousand, I plan to move them into my "bank" accounts until I reach about $5,000 then open CDs. I don't mind my balances to be about $1,000 at ING but anything more than that makes me nervous. Am I being silly?

Your ING account is FDIC insured for up to $100,000. Don't worry about it.
