Seriously!!
While I do realize there are more important things going on in the world, this just seriously lit my fire today, so I want to rant. I don't know if this is the right spot for this post or not but here goes....
When I go to Sonic, it doesn't matter which one I go to, they mess up my order, they're rude, I have waited up to 30 minutes for my simple Drink and Large Tot order to be brought to me. (I would have left but I paid at the stall thingy with my card and paged for a refund to simply say "forget it" but they never answered when I hit the button!!!!)
So here's why I'm mad and no longer eat at Sonic.... Ok i tip them greatly..I make it a point to tip people very well because as we all know, money makes the world go round and I hope when I tip well that it brightens someone's day! My issue with the Sonic crew is, they NEVER say thank you, I have had them jerk the money out of my hand after they slam my order through my open window, it's just like what is wrong with you people?? Sonic is overpriced anyway, who wants to pay 8 dollars for a burger and fries? Also, you're taking 30 minutes (trust me, i am not exaggerating) to bring me a large tot and a drink and you can't say THANK YOU when I hand you 3 dollars tip for a 6 dollar order?????
Do ya'll tip at Sonic? They disgust me with their service and prices. Sonic sucks.
Thanks for letting me rant

I don't eat there often, but no I do not tip. It's fast food, and I don't tip for fast food. Now, if I had some amazing service (which has never happened) I might tip, but I don't tip just to tip.

I do not tip there. It is worst service ever, which is reason I do not go there anymore. There is a drive up place in town here, where they bring food to car, etcetc, and i will tip them. BUT not if i waited so long, or they messed up order, or plain rude.

I don't know what I think about tipping at places like Sonic, Dunkin Donuts, etc....(I will clarify that I do tip generously when I go out to eat) I mean, that is their job, correct? They take your order and get your food. Servers at restaurants take a much smaller wage so the tip is the only way for them to make a decent wage.
My tip story happened just the other day at DD. I was picking up a coffee for DH (out of my blow $$) and it came to $2.18. I paid with a $5. The girl behind the counter handed me back $2. I said, I don't think you gave me back all of my change. Her response:
"Oh, I put that into my tip jar, that's what most people give me." So I responded, "I bet most people are given the option to give that to you, so I would like the same courtesy." She handed me the change in a huff and I walked out. Unbelievable.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread!

We don't have Sonic here. We did in AL though. I used to Secret Shop them often. They always failed and then lied to the secret shopper company about how the transaction happened. I know they lied because the ss company asked if I had anyone with me when I shopped because Sonic was telling them that they knew who the secret shopper was and it was a man. Nope, I am all woman baby

Yeah, I love me some Cherry Limeade but their customer service sucks. That's what happens when you've got irresponsible 18yos managing incompetent 16yos.

Well, I personally don't think age has anything to do with managerial skills because I've been an assistant manager at my store for 4 years now and I'm 23. Not trying to be rude because I do understand what you're saying. In this circumstance, these people are managed by a 40 something. I know this because I had a cashier, who was his gf at the time, and he's constantly called the store trying to talk to her. I'm thinking "no wonder it takes a day and a half to get an order out, ya'll sit on the phone all day"....
YankeeGal, your story made me mad and it wasn't even me buying the coffee. LOL

I won't tip ANYWHERE unless I have good service. Even higher class places - if they fail to act like they enjoy what they're doing - I'm not going to repay them for being so sharky! I don't get tips at my job and I'm ALWAYS happy to be there! =P

You know I didn't tip at Sonic for the longest but anytime I went with someone they'd say "oh how much should we leave for a tip". That's how this whole tipping situation started. I knew a girl that worked there and she said they make like 3.50 or something per hour and then got most of their money off of tips, then my boyfriend said that they make minimum wage if not more.
I went like a week or so ago for a sundae, which was melted when she got it to my car, and I didn't offer a tip so she just stood there staring at me then gave me a raised eyebrow and walked off. lol.....

I absolutely will not tip for fast food. If it's a delivery guy then yes, I tip about 10% (so I tip $2.50 on a $25 order). I miss Sonic and we don't have them here, but we do have Peter's Drive Thru and I'd tip them because oh man, the best service and they have really great food.
I wouldn't go back there if I were you; that sort of behavior is simply atrocious. I don't care who it happens to. You deserve better customer service than that. This is why I wouldn't let anyone under 21 work in a fast food environment. I never see it happen with people over 21.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

It's like what YankeeMom said, it's those drinks that keep me coming back. They're addictive. And if you go between 2 and 4 it's happy hour. LOL

I don't tip at Sonic and the waiting thing is exactly the reason I use cash, so I can go.

Don't have a Sonic here, but have seen thier commercials and wished we did, now I don't! LOL
I have never tipped at a fast food place, they are paid miniumum wage, unlike waitrers/waitresses in a diner or restaurant, they are paid below minimum wage and expect customers to tip up to minimum wage. I have worked in both fast food and diners/restaurants and would much rather work in the later. I am a hustler and give great service WITH a smile! I have always thanked the customer whether I got a quarter or a $15 tip, doesn't matter to me, we are all working class.
BTW, I would give Sonic a MISS!
