Default credit score - do you care?

No denying it, the credit score affects the majority of us in some way.
Do you care about it? yes/no or do just never really give it any thought?

Ourselves, we have never given it much thought. We've never been late with bills so we knew it was reasonable.

yea I care. I know (according to Dave) that I am not supposed to care. Too bad, I care.

My score is really high. Really high......I don;t want it going down. Sorry Dave.

Yes I care about it. Very much. I was in low 550's last year at this time. I got it up to the 700's now! I cared for long time after divorce so I could refinance house at reasonable rate. Did that now, hoping to keep it up there ( shouldnt be hard with no debt but house ) so that one day in near future I can buy my own center and quit doing daycare out of my house!

During the process I subscribed to myfico.com and found 2 creditors that said i still owed them money from YEARS ago, sent them paperwork those bad marks were erased, and paid off ALL debt ( but house ) in that years time. Yay.

Yes...I do care about it enough to make sure payments are on time, and I would never co-sign on a loan because of it.

How much we enjoy what we have is more important than how much we have. Life is full of people who have more than they know what to do with, but cannot be content. It is the capacity to enjoy life that brings contentment.---Unknown

Not right now. Maybe later when I start looking to borrow money for a mortgage. I hate that I have to pay to see the score. I really don't know what it is because of that and don't want to waste money right now to know.

I don't believe that I could have a bad score based on my credit reports though. I have paid on time for the past 5 years and have a zero balance on one card and have only used half of the student loan amount I was approved for. The card that is open has been open for nearly 7 years.

You bet I care... We got a great interest rate on our home because both dh and I had a nearly perfect score. But more importantly than that credit scores don't just matter when applying for a loan anymore. More and more insurance companies, employers, and more are using credit scores to gauge how responsible applicants are. If you don't care someone else does.

    No.

I used to. Then I swore off debt.

    I'm aiming for a score of 0.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Yes. I work in the banking industry. If I don't have a great credit score it can hurt my chances of promotion, cost me my job, etc. I have to be financially responsible and they use credit scores as one method of measuring that.

No. To me, it's not worth using credit to get a good credit score. I can understand why people would care, I just don't.

I guess I'm pretty neutral - it's just not something I think about. However, there is no reason I should have a bad one. I did check the credit reports for accuracy some months ago in an inexplicable spasm of fiscal responsibility, but I really don't pay attention to it.

I do know, however, that it is being used much more to assess individuals for more than loans and actual financial matters. The jury's still out on what I think of that, but I'm leaning to unfair, since a rocky financial history does not necessarily equate with bad or irresponsible person as we all know.

Yep I care and I shouldn't because I dont need a home or credit cards, I surely have enough but I do care. It's always great to know that I am in the almost mid 800's and plan to keep it there.

My score is -0-. I didn't care about it since I haven't used cc's since the early 90's. I will check the credit reports periodically though so I can make sure no one is using my name illegally.

Correction, Greebo has informed me that I might now have a credit score as my name went onto the purchase of cabinets for the business...... as I said to him: !@#$%@$&$^& WHAT?

    oh well.

DH and I could care less about our credit score. We own everything outright, have no debts and we pay cash for everything now. Now if we were not in this position, of course we would care.

Yes, I care. It may not matter much now, but it could in the future, and I'd like to keep it in good standing.
