Default The extras,September budget but not a normal monthly bill

Well apart from the bills I have every month, right now I am seeing...

Final doctor Bill---$82.79 I have been paying $50 a month but I really want it to go AWAY in September. We had about $1600 in medical bills as dh was in hospital at the new year so they are about gone.

Step dds college---$300 total but I will pay $100 a month until Novemebr..sigh

Fishing trip---$450 Dh takes one fishing tourney a year--should have saved for it...

    That is it.$450+$100+82.79=$632.79

The good news is that I have it in the budget and it will be paid.

Do other people have expenses like this. It seems like every month I have them.

I paid a $650 dr bill one month
I had $400 in speeding tickets and d driving for 2 dds---they are on their own next time...
    fishing tourneys--$450
$1100 in unexpected college tuition between both dds

and assorted other things....does it get better? Is my house crazy??

Can't say that I've ever had a doctor's bill. How is it that folks are getting these? 80/20 plan? I've had 2 kids born in the past 3 years and not a single dime was paid to the hospital. They covered the entire birth and stay. All we ever pay is co-pays at office visits.

Speeding tickets, heh driving slower isn't as fun, but it sure is much cheaper. And the fishing trip is a want, not really a need. How do you get unexpected college tuition? Did they mistakenly sign up for classes?

I should clarify--the dr bill is a lab fee from the hospital-not a dr bill from a doctors office

The speeding tickets--well dd1 is currently taking her defensive driving course online as we speak and she isn't having fun--punishment

The fishing tourney happens every year-I let it sneak up on me. I have no one but myself to blame for that one.

Unexpected college tuition--$688 over what we thought we had to pay for dd1
dd2 got a scholaship but is taking 4 days computer courses and only one day at the college--turns out you have to pay for that. She offered to take more classes at the school but since she hasn't been able to find a job we are paying her gas. It is cheaper to pay the tuition and hope she gets a job than just pay her gas.

I feel your pain Cricketlegs...here's mine:
DH dental emergency-cracked a tooth-unable to save $292.00-only enough in the dental sinking fund for the annual cleanings-will have to adjust.
The big one: our real estate tax valuation came this month. Will be an extra $1500.00 due by November. (It was done in April and they just notified us in August? Not much time to prepare!) Luckily we have an extra weeks pay this month and will adjust the snowball until this is funded-UGHH!

Every time I hear these kind of conversations, it makes me crazy...I am up here in Canada where everything medical (bar drug costs and some ancillary ie. physio, chiropractic) is paid through taxes...it is so unfair that people are put behind the 8 ball due to illness (the exact time when you need less stress!) No offense to anyone, but I just think it is wrong in one of the richest countries in the world that people should be sick and have to worry about how they are going to afford treatment...

How in the world did you NOT pay for having 2 babies even with insurance I have had to pay. With my first child I paid full price because I had insurance but not maternity coverage. With child #2 and #3 my insurance paid 80/20 so I still have to pay the 20% and this time we had my tubes tied so the total bill before the insurance paid was $11,000. We pay just over $1100.

Yes but what makes America so GREAT is our ability to chose for ourselves. Forced health care takes that away.

    Just my opinion.

We have TriCare insurance due to husband being full-time National Guard. We don't pay copays on doctor's visits, hospitals, etc. When Wesley was born, he spent 5 days in NICU and between the two of us our bills came up to about 60K. We didn't pay a dime for it.

Only copays we've ever had are on medicines and that's 3$ for generic and 9$ for name brand.

I don't have any unexpected expenses at this time, but with the start of school my dd's will be coming home with things I did not prepare for. They will come out of are spending money.
If things are to much to handle it will have to come out of the snowball.
I don't particularly like the unexpected items that can reek havoc on the budget but I just handle them the best I can, whether it is changing the snowball for the month or taking the money from the EF. There are times when you just breathe and keep on going.

cricketlegs you are not alone, I can budget until the cows come home but I can be rest assured that half way through the month, something will come up and I will have to readjust.

I don't think that I have managed to go a whole month with out haveing to re do my plans due to some unforseen thing or other.

Sometimes is is bad planning on my part - but most of the time it comes from completely left field.

Gah, not everyone has a choice..insurance discriminates and doctors do the same based on how much money one has...
