I hope this will help someone else in a similar situation.
First of all I'm in Alabama and other states may not have this opportunity.
We're on a fixed income due to major health problems. Last year I was able to take a form to my doctor where he signed that I'm permanently and totally disabled. I went to the tax office with that and my determination letter that stated why and when. I was excused from that year's taxes and was surprised to receive a check for the previous 2 years payments, about $750. Last Oct. when I rec'd our tax notice I went in and signed a form and walked out. It's been a serious blessing. Our appraisal has doubled from 2006 to 2007 and we would've been in major trouble. At present my DH isn't on the deed (but in the will) and if we change it, we'll get a form signed for him.

Peace, Joanna
