    Default Consumer credit counseling

Due to the economy and reduction in income we can't keep up with the credit card payments anymore. The interest has spiked and we just can't do it.

So, if we decide to check into debt management programs, which ones should we consider? Any input from you about who you've used?

    Thanks!

I have never used one, but if my memory is serving me right there is a link on Dave Ramsey's website to help locate one.

Most of them are scam artists who will trash your credit while taking your money but not help your situation. There is also nothing they can do for you that you can't do for yourself for free or for much less.

However, if anyone can offer some insight into your finances its this bunch. If you are willing, post your budget, your income, and your debts (balance, rate, min pmt), and we'll see what we can do to help!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
