update 2 months on how am I doing?
It has been a while since I have been around on the boards but I have promised myself that I will be here more regularly.
Some of you may remember that a couple of months ago I paid down the last of my debt (totals are in my sigi)
Since that time work has been really hectic and I have had a lot of family commitments so it has been hard to get here and catch up on what is happening. Have been reading a few posts this morning and there is definately a mix of good and bad. which the financial industry the way that it is I am heartend to see that there isn't too many people in dire financial straights.
My next big goal was to fully find my EF to 6 months worth of exoenses. at the moment I am sitting on just over 2 months of expenses so I am doing well and am hopeful that I will have the rest saved by the end of the year.
I have had a lot of car expenses lately and have had to shell out a small fortune for repairs to my car but as it stands now the car is running better then it ever has and I was able to pay cash for all of the repairs (it is my own fault really for negelcting it so much) I have made myself a promise to service it regularly.
I have also completely finsihed my Christmas shopping, which means that my Christmas bonus will be able to go directly to the EF and not to gifts. double plus the stores were still on sale when I bought the gifts so I got them at a reduced price. already I can start to see prices getting inflated as christmas approaches.
I am loving my more simple lifestyle. and this week end am planning to completely declutter my house - there are things I not longer needs that are wasting space that could be sold / given to charity.
I have set up an ING account for my EF, I have a spending account (with limited funds) that I allocate my allowance to and a "sinking fun" for all irrgeular expenses such as insurance and car registration, school fees and gifts etc. I just devide the yeary cost into pay periods and stick that money into the account for where it is needed.
I am feeling pretty good, but I know that there is room for improvement. We are still renting so after the EF is fully finded I will be working hard to get together a deposit for a home.Debt 1 - Paid in Full (originally $750)
Debt 2 - Paid in Full (originally $2100)
Debt 3 - Paid in Full (originally $3500)
Debt 4 - Paid in Full (originally $4000)
Debt 5 - Paid in Full (originally $3000)
FFEF - Fully Funded with 6 months of expenses as of July 2009
Next Step - House deposit
