budget busters
i just sat down and tweaked my sinking fund/ freedom accounts for the budget busters for the past year or so. these budget busters caused my accounting to be messed up and caused me to dip into subaccounts or do "creative budgeting".
i added a line item for office supplies $500/12
office holiday parties $100/12
stamps $100/12
ren faire $240/12
office supplies, especially, were killing my pocket money.Last edited by ladykemma2; 11-27-2008 at 09:32 AM. Reason: spelling
11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

I really need to get a sinking fund going. It's been hard to budget it in in the last few months, given that from August to December is financially rough on us. It's not so bad this year, but it's still not enough to make me feel comfortable with starting a sinking fund.
I made a list for ours and it's pretty huge, which is why I think I'm being scared off by the fund itself. It mainly includes school supplies, birthdays and holidays but also includes a replacement fund for both computers. It also needs to include a new furnace and a new roof, which frightens me because that's at least 12k right there.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

Maybe once we get the debts paid off, I'll take you up on that offer. We're sinking about $500 per month into debts and if we didn't have to do that, the fund would be completely possible. I just don't want to stretch the debt repayment plan out any longer than necessary or put us into a really large bind.
