Default What are your financial goals for 2009?

It's less than a month away. I'm sure a lot of you are giving it some thought; but do you have any of those thoughts written out into goals yet?

This would be a great time to re-examine your financial plans and see if they can continue as they do now, or if you need to tweak them a bit. I know it's been on my mind for a while now because of cost of living changes and the economy. So what about you? What are your primary goals for 2009?

I think mine would be to pay down all but one credit card/in-store card before the end of 2009. I don't want to have more than that goal because if I take on too many goals, I know I'll feel overwhelmed.

I want to pay off all my debt, actively work on emergency fund and start a "heathcare" fund. It's very possible, I just have to buckle down and do it.

Finish funding my FFEF, pay off the bit of debt I've accumulated again, and in January I hope to buy a new bed - new frame and all.

My main goal right now is to pay off the credit card, Liberty, GTO, and the furnance by February 2010 so that I can quit my job and stay home with Wesley.

Above and beyond that, we are wanting to do a lot of cosmetic work to the house!

I know we are looking at how to change the finances for 2009. I still hope to be down to a house payment and car payment by March 2009. Then, we are going to review are monthly income and look at what expenses are coming up for the year and how much to snowball on the car as well as to start saving more for retirement. We have lost a considerable amount that was already saved, but we are still young enough if we increase what we have been doing and invest it differently (maybe buy the land and/or home where we want to retire) we can still be on track for retirement.

I dont know anymore. This whole zoning issue has just turned everything on its head for now.

Big financial goal would be to get past this and get the *@*!er SOLD or RENTED. I am starting not to care which.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

all cc debt should be paid off by may or before I am surprised how much we paid off last year so following the same plan

    pay off all cc debt
build savings to 8 months expenses ( 4 months in 2009)
continue paying extra on car loan and mortage.

oh and a biggie increase income... I am self employed and have been enjoying the lighter work lately but I have to get advertising and find some new clients.

I don't know if I can do it, but I would LOVE to get both cc's paid off by the end of 2009. At the minimum, I intend to have one paid off and closed.

To pay off my roof debt. Had a cap put on my tooth may cost $724. If it does want to have that paid off by March. By the end of this December I will have my $1000 EF. For next year I put my 401 (b) on hold for just next year. I want to establish a 5-6 month cushion. Also, I would like to put an extra $25 a month on my house mortgage.

I would like to finish paying off and close one CC and then concentrate on my student loan. It is definitely doable. I would also like to finish funding my EF.

Goals for 2009: Current on all bills, pay off all debts, start building up FFEF; new car, new sofa.

This is, of course, all contingent on some sort of major financial turnaround in the economy and my self-employment income. And when Mom passes there will be some $.

I have $12,007.07 as of right now in auto and personal loans, medical bills and credit card debt that I will work my hardest to be rid of by this time next year. I'm also going to make sure there is always at least $1,000 stashed away for emergencies. We're going to take a Disney vacation in June and pay for it in cash. I'm also going to make sure to sock away at least $50.00 a month for next year's Christmas.

It's going to be tough but totally doable. I'm pumped!

At tbhis stage my Fully Funded EF will be in place by the end of this year.

So I have to really sit down and have a look at what I want to achive for next year because I hadn't thought that the emergency fund would be in place quite so quickly.

The first things that come to mind are that we need to save for a home deposit and also for our wedding (no real plans yet but a girl can hope)
Debt 1 - Paid in Full (originally $750)
Debt 2 - Paid in Full (originally $2100)
Debt 3 - Paid in Full (originally $3500)
Debt 4 - Paid in Full (originally $4000)
Debt 5 - Paid in Full (originally $3000)

FFEF - Fully Funded with 6 months of expenses as of July 2009

    Next Step - House deposit
