Default 2009 the year debt is blasted

Wow, the light at the end of the tunnel. Sure it is just a speck right now but it is a speck, my speck.

On the 15th I will make the Kirby payment and that will mean all my debt payments for 2008 will be done.

Every non mortgage debt we have(except for dds student loans, payments start in 2011, but I will deal with them promptly) a payoff date in 2009. Some should pay off earlier than my siggy but I am keeping it as is worst case payoffs dates.

Now I am in the countdown to paying off my car, creditcard, and vaccuum.

Soon when they are done I will have about $800 a month to hit the studnet loans(about $10,000 total) and get rid of it too.

    2009 is MY year.

Another thing is dd got a good paying job in her field freelance and next August will move out of the dorms and into her own place. No more loans for dorm and food. She is footing the bill herself and saving me about $4000 to $5000.

I am very proud of her.

She has told me she wants me to help her to learn with budget and money matters.

Yes, 2009 is the year my DH sees what he has worked for, I can see where I have stretched, plodded, bent and hammered to save every penny.

It may not seem like much at this point but just turning the page, knowing that our next payments will be 2009 payments really makes me want to work even harder and do it even faster.

Thanks for listening to my blather!

That's fantastic! I'd love for 2009 to be that way, and I really admire how you've stuck to your guns about getting rid of the debts.

I started my debt repayment and the entire change how we live path in April 2008 and it has been an incredible ride.

Hard, oh yes, satisfying, you betcha, worth it, oh so worth it!

No matter how bad the situation, or small, anyone can change their life if they are willing to change how they view money and what is truely IMPORTANT.

For us, it is money in the bank and less garbage in the house and no debts sucking the life out of us and along with the life our happiness.

I agree that it's really awesome to get motivated and have a plan. I had a goal for 2008 that I started in January. I have *almost* made it ! It just feels so great. It is so amazing that with a little sacrifice and planning you can accomplish anything. Some people have a defeatist attitude and that will get you no where. If you take charge you can really make some serious progress - NO EXCUSES JUST RESULTS !!

keep up the good work Cricket !!!

Hard, yes. Satisfying, you betcha - we found the exact same thing. Making sacrifices paid off in the long run. You are so right when you said "what is truely important". I can't stress that enough.

The best way to find out is to gather the debt, the interest rates, the monthly payments and the amount you have to throw at it each month and head over to www.whatsthecost.com and put it in the debt calculator and don't get off the path--for anything.

We don't care if the elastic is shot in our panties if it means the debt repayment gets off track!!!Since I started our path I have not made a single payment that has not been in the plan.

CC min payment $90--I pay $300
car min payment $310--I pay $400
    kirby is $68 and I pay $68

I ALWAYS make the payment that is over the minimums! Any less is NOT an option.

No, we are sending our kids to college. We decided we didn't want them starting life in debt. We consider that since her tuition and books are paid by the state and her dad(my ex) pay half the room and board and that she upholds her end by going to school etc that we are making out like bandits lol.

Now, my step dd totally bombed out and just threw her scholarship away so she is on her own....I won't be taken advantage of...

My dd already has her new job while attending college full time. She is a Jr. right now at Texas Tech. There isn't any reason to move now as her dorm and meal ticket for next semester has already been paid.
