Getting a Stimulus Check this year?
Last year I did not get that stimulus check, I didn't work and make enough to be eligible.
Did you know that if you didn't file to get one or couldn't, that you can this year? It is called the RECOVERY REBATE CREDIT.
The information is from the IRS site states that:
This credit is figured like last year's economic stimulus payment, except that your 2008 tax information is used to figure this credit. Your 2007 tax information was used to figure your economic stimulus payment. The maximum credit is $600 ($1,200 if married filing jointly) plus $300 for each qualifying child.
You may be able to take this credit only if:
You did not get an economic stimulus payment, or
Your economic stimulus payment was less than $600 ($1,200 if married filing jointly for 2007), plus $300 for each qualifying child you had for 2008.

I got my stimulus check last year, but I already saw that on the 1040. It'll sure make some people happy! Those that didn't qualify last year or qualify for the entire thing will be able to get it now.

When you fill out your tax return for last year it ask if you got one and how much. Then it calculates if you are entitled to one and I believe it is just figured into your taxes--refund or if you need to pay. I have already gotten mine so I am not totally sure but that is what I understand it to be.

We did not get the entire 1200 because even though I had to pay $500 in selfemployment taxes the income taxes were only 900 so that 900 is all we got.
If our taxes are higher this year we will get the rest.
Our son also only got $300 that was for his child. He did not get the $600 because after EIC he paid no taxes
So If you get EIC last year and this year. I don't think you will get anymore unless you had a baby this year. then you would get $300 for that child.Meg
