    Default stopping credit protector fee

Can have the Evil Credit Card Company stop a credit protector fee if I write to them rather than listen to the retention people for hours on end? I have tried to do that, but I end up giving up. If I send the letter, won't they just have to do it? I am thinking that I would include a paragraph stating the THIS IS MY FINAL ANSWER!!!!!!

If your going to send them a letter might I suggest you send it Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested. That way they can't say that the "Never got it" - which has happend to me in the past when I sent in payments and they tried to claim it was sent "Late" when of course it wasn't.

I actually listened to them drone on and on for about an hour and signed up for that credit protection thing about 2 months before I was laid off from my job and then only found out after I was laid off that they had NO record of my signing up for it! So, yes better to do things in writing and send them Certified Mail.

I emailed a CC company about mine and they responded very quickly and did as I asked.

I was very surprised-----really expected it would be a huge hassle.

We had the same problem with Citi. In fact- we canceled it once and they charged us again for it the next month. We called to complain and they refunded us the fees they took out and then they went and charged us again for it the very next month!

What worked for us is when they tried to talk us out of it he just interrupted them and told them under no uncertain terms was it open for discussion. It was a pretty short phone call. (This was when we got the fees refunded.)

When they enrolled us again the next month and started charging the fee again- we called and told them we wanted to cancel the card. They refunded the fees again and this time they didn't charge us again.

I know I've said this before but it's worth repeating. You can cancel the account without actually having paid off the balance. If you cancel the card I'm pretty sure they can't charge you for the credit protector.

Just out of interest, how much is your monthly charge? mine per month is 52 cents for every $100 outstanding.
