It is never going to end (kind of a long vent.)
So besides the huge taxes I owe because of my stupid last job. The last couple months we have had to 560 dollars in medication on our credit cards because I have to have them and no way to pay right away for them. Just got the ambulance bill today from when I had a severe sudden onset asthma attack or it could have been Anaphylaxis I am in the middle of getting all kinds of testing done. I just got to new scripts today for two new medication the bill for them once I fill them is going to be a little over two hundred dollars. I DON'T have even 5 dollars so they have to go on our credit card because with out them I could friggin die or have such a bad asthma attack I could die. and I wouldn't be able to work because I wouldn't be able to breath. I am so tired of this. I work my butt off my husband works his butt off. We have cut back on just about everything we can. My inlaws by us milk and bread, and eggs so we have the basics. My mom buys my daughter cloths. Mother in law just gave DH some money for gas for the rest of the week so he could get to work. The last couple years have been financial hell for us between severe mold in the basement and having to get that fix. Lossing yet another baby. I can't seem to carry any more children. It is hard everything seems fine and then they die in the womb. It is very hard for me and the last one left me with a nervous break down because at the same time DH lost his job we had just gotten a line of credit to fix the mold problem in the house and had spent 7000 trying to fix it. That I just lost it and was hospitalized for a month.
Then Dh found another job and was laid off again 6 months later. Was unemployed for seven months well I woked 3 jobs. Until he found work mean while we were living off CC and such. Then he got another job! YEAH. And the one place I worked offered me a full time job with medical so I jumped on it let my other jobs go. Two weeks later I get called into the office and told were really sorry but the company is getting rid of one full time job at every store. So now I had no steady income. Once again we were living off credit cards. Now I have a job and am in the process of training for supervisor which is great. Except we live in our overdraft and even that runs out once the bills all come out. Now the tax bill, ambulance, medications. DD needs supplies for her fine motor skill problems, the school wants us to put her in all these extra activites for her attention span problems and fine motor skill issues. 30 dollars in the last month for field trips. IS IT EVER GOING TO END???? I am trying my best to pay everything off and build up an ER fund. I make pretty everything from scratch now. I just don't what else to do I work crazy hours and between daycare and looking after my daughter or having to pay for more daycare. I just don't know what else to do.
Thanks for letting me vent. I am just so frustrated and having one of those days where everything seems hopeless.

Oh my I feel your pain... and I want you to know you are are not alone...
I have been feeling the same discouragement... but in my case it is my daughters medications (she has diabetes), my husbands hours being cut back and debt accumulated from the last time he was laid off and went to school.... those are the big things and then the little things are what threaten to push us to the brink...
Ann K! I am so happy to hear about your success.... did you blog your journey anywhere?

ASK YOUR DOCTOR FOR SAMPLES! Don't be shy. Tell him/her you are broke and can't afford them. Doctor's offices have a closet FULL of samples and many are thrown away because they aren't given out and expire. Also ask the doctor to prescribe older meds that have been around a while AND/or generics - THEY ARE CHEAPER!
Once I convinced my MIL to tell her doctor this, he is GIVING her all the injectable insulin she needs and has prescribed other meds that can be filled for $4-5 a month at one of the participating grocery stores.Mary

I am sorry you are having such a hard time right now. From reading your post I can't help but wonder if your health issues aren't a result from the mold issue in your house. I would check your home owners policy and see if your insurance covers the clean up of mold. I was always under the impression that most schools have a scholarship type program for some activities, to make the activities available to all despite of income. My be worth asking if thier is anytype of financial assistance for those programs. Has your daughter been diagnosed by a Dr. with a specific issue for her fine motor skills? In our school district if a child is diagnosed with a learning disability, the school is required to provide what ever speciall assitance/additional education opportunities that child may need in order to succeed in school. I can only imagine how stressed and exhausted you must be feeling right now. If you want to PM me the state you live in, I would be more than willing to spend some time googling to see what I can find in regards to any free/low cost resources that may be near you.

Savvy is right about asking for free samples from the Dr.s I was diagnosed with diabetes in Feb. I was started on Metformin, one of those nice generic prescriptions that was $4 a month. Unfortunately, it didn't agree with my body and I had to switch meds. I am not on Actos, it isn't generic and costs over $200 to fill, my Dr. has been wonderful with giving me the free samples that I haven't had to buy that drug yet. He has also given me a couple of the insulin pens when I needed them before out next paycheck.
If these are meds that you will be on for a while, look on drug company website and see if they offer any programs for people without insurance/low incomes. I know the company that makes my insulin has such a program.Challenges

hang in there. I know that if the meds are generic you can get them for $4 or $5 at Walmart or Fred Meyer. If they are not generic, definitely ask for samples ! Let the doctors know you can't afford a lot of testing and that you are in a financial pickle. The docs I have had in the past have always been understanding about financial issues, if they are not then get another doctor !
You will get through this. That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger.

I'm so sorry that you're frustrated. Things like this are really hard for anyone to handle and I can only imagine what you're going through. We too lived inside the overdraft monster and to be completely honest, it takes a ton of hard work and disposable income to get out of that hole. It took us about three months to stop using overdraft and we lived in it for about five years before that.
What about getting third-party medical insurance to cover things? I know Blue Cross Blue Shield has an awesome variety of policies and for our family of four, we paid $185 a month.
http://www.bluecross.com/
That's their main website. If you want to look at specific types of coverage, they have a lovely section on that. I'd also look into Medicaid as a temporary fix if you can't afford Blue Cross and you don't have work benefits. We actually had it for a while as a buffer to both our public health care and DH's work insurance.
I know how hard things can be. Whether you realize it or not, it really will get better. You just have to look at things from a bright angle. I know that's not really something you can work with, but trust me it does help.

Hi, know what you mean...I have been going to a cardiogist (?) for a couple years. Mostly for cholestrol and high blood pressure. Our insurance is private as we are self insured due to being self employed. The insurance company won't cover any thing to do with cholestrol. She put me on Caduet to slide it thru because it is both high blood pressure AND cholestrol. However, my son in Texas is a PA and he called about a month ago and asked why she had me on it specifically. Long story short he said to go to Walmart.com and print out a list of the $4 medications and take it to her and tell her just could not afford the Caduet anymore. It was about $160 a month. She said she was well aware of the $4 Walmart stuff. Tone of voice made me wonder there. Not nasty but like she would rather not. Why? Don't know but again made me wonder. Anyway she found 2 on there to try. Got a 90 day supply of the blood pressure one for $10 and the other one ( cholestrol ) was $25 and change for a month because it wasn't available in 10/80. $4 was 5/40. Still $160 versus basically $30 or less busted down to a month supply.
Also I will say her office kept me in samples when our financial hardships started and kept me in them for about 4..maybe 5 months. Nurse said when I ran out to call and she would get me more ( caduet ).
Try asking for samples and if not then go to Walmart.com and print out the list or go to the store and get a list. Son said if you could get the pharmacist to take the time ( yeah, right at walmart ) he or she could tell you what could be substituted off the $4 list.
Hope this helps.

Hi
I read a post awhile back about getting prescriptions filled in Canada. My dh is on a medication that cost $100 for 30 pills in MI. I checked out Globaldrugsdirect.com and we got the generic for $100for 100 pills. On your Dr bills just pay a small set amount every month if you can and pay your more important bills (utilities, rent, mort). As long as you pay a little they won't go after you. Also another idea I just thought of; if you have little income call the company or go online to the drug companies that make your drugs and you may get some help there too. Hope things get better for you real soon.
