Default Saving $600 a year by not switching to Verizon...

    Yep. You heard me....NOT switching.

On one hand, I'm proud. On another, I feel kinda bad. See, I was price shopping for tv/internet deals just to see what was out there, and it turns out we could switch to Verizon Fios and get a 2 year price guarantee for faster internet service and more HD channels and save about $30 a month.

Great!, sez I, and after "price shopping" with Comcast (current provider) who can only save me $25 a month, I tell Verizon, "Set it up!". We schedule an install date, and I call up Comcast to cancel.

And suddently now they can not only save me $50 a month over my current bill (and $146/mo was getting to be rediculous), they can also speed up my internet bandwidth.

I feel bad for Verizon, cause they couldn't beat that, even tho tho they would have been faster, but for the extra $20 a month? I'll take 15/5 instead of 25/15.

Plus it would have been a REAL hassle, killing off our comcast emails...
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Wow! That's a good deal. I wish we had options like that here, unfortunately we are stuck with Time Warner and they have us over a barrel, being the only non-dialup provider in our area.

Congrats to you! I'm looking for a new deal myself. AT&T has a package that could include everything for us including our cell phones, seriously thinking about it.

Wow, that is a lot better. Congratulations!
$600 per year, I could think of a ton of better places I'd rather send that money to than the cable guys...

WTG. That is a lot of money to let slip away. The only way we can save money through a package with Verizon is to have unlimited long distance, I cancelled long distance on our landline last week, the only reason we have a landline is the computer. They asked about consolidating our directv/verizon bill into one, nope. If they don't want to save me money with a package I'm not consolidating anything. Surprisingly, my husband mentioned doing away with DSL, and downgrading our DirecTv to save some money.

Its truly amazing what comcast can do when you use the c (cancel) word. I can't get dsl through AT&T because I'm not close enough, but Verizon can't sell to me because AT&T kind of owns this area. Ridiculous!!!!

Wow! I've used the "c" word before and have only gotten $250 + tax off. Way to go getting the $600!

OH cr-p Greebo. Now I have to check into this too. We have comcast and pay $191. Which includes cable, phone and internet. My DH gets $80. from the company so our out of pocket cost is $111. so i have to admit i have been lax. What are you getting for that price??

Guess I'll be giving Comcast a call but they don't have much competition here.........the other is Qwest and it is a contract which I don't like.

When we were ready to switch from Optimum Online, we called them and told them we were going to switch to Verizon and asked if they could offer us any deal to stay. They said no. After we switched, someone from OO came to the house and asked why we had switched and that they could offer us a great deal. We said, "Um, we already asked about this and were told no." Luckily, we write down the names of sales reps we speak to, so we were able to give the name of the person who told us no. At that point, we weren't going to switch back again, and the deal wasn't quite as good as what we were getting with Verizon. Usually, though, they will always deal with you. You just gotta ask!

Hehe... I used to work for Qwest. I know the big C word does wonders. When they (qwest) was messing around with my bill a lot (because I quit there) I called up and said 'Cancel me now!' well, then I got transfered to a 'cancelation specialist' aka sales person. They put a $250 credit on my bill, zero'd my account out for that month, and gave me a 25% discount on all my services for three months so I could 'think about it'. 3 months later, I canceled and went with someone who was about 50% cheaper. Always good to shop around and tell your current providing you are thinking about canceling.
