    Default Bye Bye Direct TV!!!

I finally talked my DH into of getting rid of Direct Tv and just using the antenna only. I just can't see spending 86.00 a month on re-runs all the time. My Dh has been off work for two months and we have atleast another two months to go. He fell off the ladder at home and had surgery on his arm to repair it. So we had to do some cut backs to help out the budget. I enojoy not having all of the TV channels.

    liberating, isn't it?

Often times you can either buy the box set DVD's for the same TV show and own them or get them out of the library.

Story of my life. In 2007 we had 78000 worth of debt, and we climbed out under it, on top of paying for a surgery with cash, bought a house, had a foundation shift and $11000 in repairs later we are good to go.. then I hear the words "I'm pregnant!"

Congrats! Good for you. And hope your hubby mends well!

At that price I would quit too.......guess I have saved a lot over the years. TV isn't so great anyway.......except sweeps is coming up...then they try to really 'outdo' themselves!

Congrats to you. Now could you please come and talk my hubby into letting me go back to the lowest package. He wants to keep the "nothing on tv" package we now have because it would mean he would not have his XM stations Bluesville and Boneyard.

Good job. Oh man, I don't think I could get rid of my Dish unless I really really really really had too. So congrats!

    I think Hulu is awesome!

Do you have high speed internet (Dsl or cable?) If so then you can take advantage of hulu.com or the like to watch tv if your H still needs his cable fix.

If he needs *something* else - netflix has some lower end plans ~$20ish that allow you multiple dvd's out at one time, and you can also stream video to the computer - or even the TV if you have a series 3 TiVo or an XBox 360 (requires gold mbrship).
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

i wish I could get rid of our Dish. As far as I'm concerned it's useless. I very seldom watch tv unless theres a hockey game on and I can listen to them on the radio. Even going through our cable company is more expensive than Dish. Dh would go through withdrawls.
