Default Murphy came to visit me and I can't evict him! :(

    So our Murphy attack continues...

    first the computer went.

    Then the van broke down.

The van has been at the mechanic since Friday. They thought it was the o2 sensor. It's not. They put the old one back in and didn't charge us the $484 for it. Then they thought it was the mass fluid sensor (which is what delegates every fluid in the vehicle) but that wasn't it either. On Saturday, they were running a smoke test in it to see what they could find. It's basically just like when the home efficiency guy comes to your house, puts that thing on the door and sucks all of the air out of the house then uses smoke at the joints to find leaks.

We'll find out this morning/afternoon what's going on.

DH is taking a cab to and from work, while I have to walk to the store again and figure out what to get for the next few days.

I wound up not having to spend any money at the store yesterday for meals because we had leftovers, so I just made some homemade creme of mushroom soup and put it over grilled chops with white wine and milk, then we had rice penne with butter (and the guys really loved the creme sauce from the chops on the penne) with some green beans I had in the freezer. The kids had oatmeal for lunch and I found a package of ramen noodles for DH, plus I had some Cup O Soup for my lunch.

Financially, this really has us in a mess. We're all stressed out so bad about it. We're doing our best to inhale and exhale without pulling our hair out, but this is the first true financial blunder we've gotten into in a year and a half that it's stressing us out. DH already had to take Friday off, but he has saved hours that can compensate. His OT at work is done and he's due for a review this month. He gets three paychecks next month, which may be a blessing in disguise for us. I think we'll be able to pay off the mechanic stuff, but that all depends on how much it'll cost us to get the van fixed.

It'd be nice if we won the lotto or something. We just don't have enough cash to devote to more than one fund and our emergency fund's been bled dry.

I think it's time we hunker down and figure this whole thing out.

    They finally found the problem...

it's gonna cost us at least $1300.

It was the computer that went in the van, which means that they have to have it towed to Ford to have it replaced. The last time they had something like that done, it took them four days to do it. Alas, we're going to have to rent a car for those four days so DH has the liberty to get to and from work this week.

Well, now I know what's being paid off at tax time.

Boy, why does it always seem to come at once?! I am working on giving Murphy a good swift kick in the B@#* myself. I'll add a kick or two in for you as well. Good luck and hang in there!
