Murphy has been here......
First we had problems with the bathroom floor, it's almost done now we just needed to buy some glue to put the new linoleum down.
Saturday dh drove to work(he works at the mall), he came out at a few minutes after 11pm and someone had vandalized our van. They had smeared cat food and eggs all over it, stole our gas cap and put cat food, eggs and pop into the gas tank. Last week we had a locking gas cap that the seal broke on so dh went to get a new one and they were out of locking caps, so he just got a regular one. Anyways we had the van towed to our mechanics and we walked up there this morning to give him the keys and let him know what happened. It is going to be about $350 to take the tank off and clean it out and we will need a new fuel filter, but because the van wasn't started the pump should be ok. Keeping our fingers crossed right now. It just really sucks that we had just filled our tank the day before, so now we need to spend another $80 on gas.

That sucks!! Does the mall have surveillance cameras? If so, request them and file a police report.

Dh called the police when he saw it, so the police report has already been filed. They said that something similar happened on the other side of the mall last week and the chances of them catching anyone are pretty slim. There is a camera but it covers about 4 cars over from where the van was. Dh went in to talk to his boss today and talk a look at the tapes(the boss is the only one who has access to the camera and was out of town). So the camera wouldn't have caught it actually happening but maybe it caught someone walking by with the cat food, pop and eggs. If they were walking towards the van the could have only been going to the van or the maintenance wash bay. So hopefully it will have caught something.

Well, at least if they catch they people in the future, you all have a police report so they likely could make a connection.

Dh just called his boss is going to go through the tapes tonight or tomorrow and then he will let us know.
The mechanic just called too and he says that it doesn't look like anything got into the pump. Thank God!!!! So they are going to change the filter and clean the tank and should be done this afternoon. It will cost us about $450. The pump would have cost another $500 so I am really relieved right now.
