Thread: Credit report question

Ok, so I'm confused on something.
The mark on my credit report is clearly in the negative section. It's also clearly a collection agency. But it says "Paid/closed." it doesn't say how late it was.
So is there a minimum amount of time that has to pass before they put it into collections? If I have the cancelled check saying that I paid it before it went into collections, that should be enough, right?
I just want to get my stuff straight before I go into this and they say something like "Oh, it doesn't say that you were late, it just says we sent it to collections and we can do that on the day we bill if we want to. "
I called this lady at dominion and left a message. hopefully she'll get back to me.~Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.~

Oh - well - paid/closed may just mean the account was closed. Lenders may see that as "negative" simply because you have less available credit.
Although in this case, that's weird. If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I think this may be getting fixed. I called corporate and left a message and she got back to me the next day... She still had our records of payment so she told me she'd call the collection agency and get back to me tomorrow. I don't think I talked to this girl last time. She had a strong accent so I think I would have remembered her. *fingers crossed*

Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Good Luck!! I just saw this. DH went through something similiar ~ with an apartment complex as well.
We never did get it off of his credit. It was an $80 charge that he never actually even owed. He got billed by mistake. Straightened it out with the original biller, but couldn't get the collection agency to budge.
He got it off of one of the credit reporting bureau, but the other two didn't remove it.~Jessica

None yet. I wanted to give some time to shake thing out because we've used up our free credit report for the year and I don't think the reporting agencies will notify us of the change. I'll probably call the collection agency before the end of the month. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
