Big Changes in store for our family
SO I wouldn't say I am bad with money---just not great. We have always found ways to budget to save for things we want (vacations, new electronics, etc) and only have 1 credit card that we used for things that "came up". But I am a "bargain freak" and will overspend on things just because its on clearance (buying 8 boxes of $.90 cereal at BJ's, 4 value packs of shampoo/conditioner at BJ's for $2.00...things like that) and it has come to the point that I have started to overspend doing those things.
We are closing on our new house next week and our monthly expenses are going to go WAYYYY up. Things we are used to are going to drastically change. Our current rent---$500 monthly...Mortgage payment? Oh yah thats $2000. But we saved the extra $1500 monthly to prepare us for that payment. Only issue is the extra expenses that we don't have to worry about now. Water bill, buying oil to heat the home, we need to replace the furnace (sellers are giving us 1/4 of the amount to purchase a new one) ...things like that.
I am actually VERY excited for this adventure---I have already made some major changes---we used to eat out 3 times a week---we have cooked AT home every single night for just over a month now and I can't imagine paying someone else $60+ for 1 meal again! That has been a big $$ help.
I guess my biggest reason for this post is that because of this forum I know we'll be A-OK and we'll be better for it. The easy way out was what I did before and now its time to grow up (haha, Im 30 with 2 children--I thought I grew up already, but I guess not LOL) .
So I want to say THANK YOU!!! to everyone here on the forum...amazing support system and I am glad I found my way here to learn all the inside tricks and tips to have financial freedom and stability---all without feeling bad about it. I just need to learn that I DON'T have to keep up with the Jones'

congratulations on your new home and your new life!! Am so glad that you aren't going to keep up with the Joneses because they have no idea what they are doing anyway!!
How you are feeling at your young age is exactly how I feel at over twice your age!! I never knew how much I didn't know and still have yet to learn!! Makes life much more interesting!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Thanks everyone! I will definitely be posting pics
It is a 4 bedroom 2 bath raised ranch on a quiet cul-de-sac with an inground pool. It was the 1 house out of 7 that day that my realtor chose for us to see that I DIDN'T want to see. But when I got there it felt like home. Its on a river that runs for 44 miles! Lots of canoing to be had

You scared the poop outta me, seeing the evcition notice. I thought, why would this be a success? Who wants to be evicted? Then I saw that you were the evictor and Sallie Mae is the evictee. Good for you!!
