    Bertine,
    I have a BOA credit card and pay my bill from another institution.
    Not sure why you think you can't?

    On the BOA site, if you click on the Customer Service tab, it will
    show you a heading, "Credit Cards". On the left column is "services".
    On the right is "Features". Right under features is "payments".
    There is a "pay now" highlighted in blue which says "Let's you pay your card from another financial institution". Have you tried this?

    If not, check it out. Hope this helps.
    You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need.

    Good luck with grad school!! What are you going for?
    Yep- that is plan of action for next week or two that Im "off" work. Ive got a ton of cds Ive been meaning to sell and leftover gifts from my holiday job from last year (everyone gets a huge box of quality toys/games/books as a thank you for working the season but since I havent any children, most of it is useless to me). Im almost embarrassed to say it would be for an MBA, combined MBA/engineering degree or MS in packaging design- something that would allow me to be more creative or involved in the creative process (brand or product management, product design, etc) but also fill huge holes in my business admin education, help me be more competitive, and reestablish a better network (my original two degrees did little to nothing networkwise for where I want to go and what I want to do). What I did before and what I do now have no relation to anything like a career path so- time to realign.

    Everyone has really touched on the pros and cons Ive been struggling with regarding the transfer- I dont want to give BoA 23% anymore BUT that 23% is pretty motivating to get moving and pay it off faster. I know myself- it takes me a while sometimes to sort this stuff out, and with everything that will be happening between now and the holidays, I can see it being put off and put off to the point where having the option is nice, but if I still havent transferred the balance, then whats the point? Surilda- Im going to take a look at that site again.. ive checked and checked and havent seen anything ( which Ive thought was so odd in the past)- I wrote down your directions. Now, my account is held in Nevada, I wonder if that makes a difference as I think that has an impact on deposits or when funds are released or something like that.

    Do you have a checking account? Most banks have online bill pay with their checking accounts. You just enter all the payment information and they pay the bill for you - they deduct it right out of your checking account the same day and send it off for you. (you 'push' a payment from your checking account) Best thing since sliced bread imo. And you can send them as many payments in a month as you want, (extremely useful for snowflaking) unlike alot of CC companies that limit how many payments you can make in a month if you make payments by going to their websites to make a payment instead of from your bank (you 'pull' from your checking account).

    I just looked at MyCheckFree that a PP talked about and that looks like a good option too.

    faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
    you will be given something solid to stand on,
    or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
    there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
    bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
    every man wants to write a book and the
    end of the world is evidently approaching.”

    an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference

    Another thing. This I know for fact because 90% of our business crap is with Bank of Hell. If you have one near you or work you can always walk the payment in. There are several good things about doing this.
    1. Their new policy which has been in effect for a little while now is it is credited immediately. You make it at 3PM it is credited on that day at 3PM. No more before 2 crap. So payment could be made same day.
    2. There isn't any lost in the mail or worrying that it is laying on someones desk and not credited. I just went went thru this with the house payment with them. You also have a receipt with date and time.
    3. There is a little bit of extra time to make the payment, should there need to be, of about a week should you be short of money the week you WOULD have had to mail it.
    But keep in mind it is also deducted immediately. Make sure it is already in there and cleared.
    Hope this helps.
    Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

    If you do decide to transfer....

    I was able to get 12 months 0% with no transfer fee through US Bank. They seem to always have at least one card out there with this option. Only catch, you have to transfer at the time of application in order to avoid the transfer fee.

    The card I got was the American Humane Society Visa Platinum (4th card on the list). Read the terms and conditions to be sure it's still a no balance transfer fee. Under "other fees" it should say "No Balance Transfer Fees for balances transferred with this application". Always read all the terms!

    The Linux Fund Visa Platinum is the same offer I believe (4th card in the list).

    I paid off B of A using the internet bill pay from my checking account no problem

    I also paid off cc using low interest balance transfers but they also seem to have changed it is hard to find one without a transfer fee and many of them have increased that fee to as high as 5% for me it was not worth it to finish the rest.
    Meg

    cc debt free YEAH on to the mortage
