I am very good at budgeting and you need to cut back on things. My dh has had a seasonal job all of our married life. You need to see if you can get something cheaper to drive until you get out of debt. Get rid of cable until you get out of debt. Cut back your cell phone plans until you get out of debt. Even consider getting pay to go phones. I'm telling you this from experience. If the amount of unemployment and your checks are weekly this is very doable you just have to be willing to cut back on things. I have lived very frugally my whole life and it is so worth it to do without until you can catch up on the bills. Do your utilities allow you to do the budget plan? If so, your bills will be the same every month and easier to budget. No higher bills in the winter. What I have also always done is divide bills in 4. Save each week that amount so you will have enough to pay all bills in full at the end of the month. I used to save homeowners ins that was due yearly; each week. So much easier to budget that way. Hope this helps. If you need more infor just ask.

thanks
the truck is not worth what we owe and it would be considered a vol repo to return it so no i cant change that
cell phones is under contract..i have tried lowering it
but its hard to get everyone on board with the budgeting ..working on this
everyone makes you do contracts now..so i cant get ride of the cable yet anyways but that does cover cable internet and phone and i cut that back w sending boxes back and cutting special channels off
i think my budget plan with the power company is now broken

what is your line of work?
11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Sometimes paying a cancellation fee is cheaper than continuing the plan for the rest of it. Also same thing with the truck. Even if you owe some after selling it; its still not as much as what you are paying now. If you don't want to give up some of the stuff that is causing payments you'll never stop being in the position you are now. I've been married for 34 years and have had 1 new car we paid $4000 for. We haven't had cable for probably 25 years and our cell phones together are $50 a month including taxes.

You can't sell a vehicle that you owe money on because the bank holds the title. In order to short sell a vehicle you'd either have to get a loan for the difference or come up with the cash, and I don't see OP being able to do either of those things.

This is just my opinion.. this and two bucks will get you a cup of coffee.. all opinions expressed are personal and... blah blah.. all standard disclaimers apply..
Given that you'll have income for the rest of November of $2238..
I'd pay:
A) 485 x 2 = 970 for the rent.. caught up
You gotta live somewhere
B) 261 X 2 = 522 VA Power.. caught up
Too late in the year to live without it.
C) 30+58 = 88 Geico.. if your insurance lapses, it costs more when you re-instate it AND the bank can take back any vehical that has a loan for that reason.
E) 80 to Cingular.. I feel your pain with the stupid contract! But you need a way to talk to people so..
D) 400 property taxes.. do not ever screw with your taxes.. just don't!
That will cost 2060 of the 2238, which should just about leave you with enough for gas and food.
Since you won't be behind on your rent, or your power bill, or your taxes in December theoretically you should be able to pay your bills then, although if you could get another side job that would obviously help out with clearing some of the debt.

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
