rush card
https://www.rushcard.com/index.aspx?...&AFF_id=118138
I am too new at this to act like I know what I am talking about. So, I saw this commercial about the Rush card. I went to the website to check it out. Ok......FV family of great money managers......what's good or bad about this card??
I read where you can have your money direct deposited to it. I guess that is good. I couldn't find the fees with it.
So ......please, please, please.......lets discuss this. I am thinking that this could be a "gas" card for me or a "grocery" card for me to keep having to have so much cash on me or convenience at the gas station.
Thank you so much in advance!Step 1 $207/1500
Step 2 Student loan $160.00 monthly
Schewels paid
Step 3 $252/$15000
Step 4
Step 5 1 child in college graduates 12/12
2 child $50.00
Step 6 $70,761/$93,000

"Only spend what you put on it." I don't get the point of having one.
Why not just use a debit card?
Unless one is looking for a way to build their FICO score. Not sure.

I would be afraid of the little fees. And the way they mention fees makes me laugh. "no hidden fees" but it was the only way to get to the fee schedule...and it opens another window.
Honestly, is the credit card going to keep you from spending more than $10 a month. Which is how much you will probably be spending on fees.
Cause if you impulse on a one dollar candy bar at each gas fillup (total $4 a month) and add an extra three dollars for a bi-weekly shopping trip, youi have spend the money you would have spent in fees. But then at least you have four spendy candy bars and some extra groceries. If you spend it on fees... you got nuttin'.

thanks Kita, I was finally able to find the schedule of fees. Too complicated for me. I guess this is a "no" for me.

So why give someone else the money to hold for you until you spend it???......and interest free too!
Why not learn to handle the money yourself? ---- or---put it in a bank to earn even a few pennies of interest?
What if this is a scam?
I would go with a debit card before I did a prepaid credit card....and I don't have either.

I totally agree with the above posts. Ok so it seems like you don't want a debit card, but would rather have something thats pre-paid, and you want the "plastic" feel of it. Why not just get one of those Visa cards that cost around $4 and you load them with whatever amount of money you want? Then you have the freedom to use it wherever you want WITHOUT any fees(except the initial $4).
Personally, I find it extremely easy to overspend when I use my debit card (or credit card for that matter), I feel like it's not really money that I'm spending. But, if I have the cash on hand I am way more responsible, because I actually see the money being spent.
Perhaps the envelope system would be a helpful tool for you. Just a thought.

On our regular checking account, we have a plastic credit / debit card. It looks and acts just like a regular credit card. EXCEPT, it is our money that we are using. If we use it as a Debit card, the bank charges us a .50 fee for each usage. As a Credit card, it just comes off the check balance and no fee. It makes it easier and faster to get through check out lanes.
I also have regular checks on this acct. I use them for 3 monthly bills I put in the mail each month, and one or two misc ones depending on which month it is. There is NO monthly fee on my checking account. It is free.
Years ago, we had a different phone company that we tried out. Their plan was you prepaid into a account for any long distance phone calls. I tried it for about a month. I had to make a long distance call and did not have enough money in the prepaid acct. Well that did me NO good at all. So I went back to the regular phone company. Just pay once a month.
Any prepaid stuff is just nonsense to me.--------My signature--------

I don't know about this card but I did get a Visa card that you loaded yourself like Aprilrain1024 suggested but I found that I couldn't use it anywhere like it said. Alot of my bill couldn't be paid online with it and I tried to order some stuff and it wouldn't take it. The gas station around here don't recognize it either. (I can't pay for gas with my unemployment eppicard at the pump even though they say you can. Everyone I know that gets it can't. You have to take it inside and use it.) I could get groceries and few other things but I basically wanted it to pay bills online with.

I totally understand Sinopa's not wanting to have all that cash with her. I hate carrying around much cash.
I personally don't like debit cards. If a CC is fruadulently used, it can be negotiated. With a debit card it can too, but in the meanwhile, that was a straight pipeline to my actual money that has vanished from my account.

I would tread very cautiously!!! I've been to the cash advance websites just to see what outrageous interest rates that they have and they were not posted anywhere. None of these companies do business for free. A guy was ahead of me at Kmart last night looking at a master card debit card; I said those cost money before you put money on them. It was $4.95. Do they charge $4.95 every time you put money on them? I bet they do. I agree with above poster; just use a debit card.

Well a pre-paid - or secured - card *does* allow you to show use of credit, which means it does help your credit score over time.
What you do is prepay say, $300. Then you have a credit limit of $300. When you use the card, as I understand it, you still get a bill for the amount owed, but if you don't pay, they take it from your deposit. If you pay, your account shows good payment history. If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Im staying away from this one. I have a debit card but it is from the bank of H*ll as some from here put it. (lol!!) I was just checking out my options. I am going to keep researching. Cash is fine too. Just don't want a lot of cash with me. This is new to me and is going to take a lot of changing of habits and mindset. Thanks my dear FV family!!
