Shamed by my neice...
Sarah is 14. The following is a text conversation between she and I just today. She's been wanting a laptop for over a year.
Sarah: Hey since we got my mom a laptop, she may want to start it tomorrow. Is there aything special we have to do to it for her to start using it?
Me: She just has to turn it on.
Her: Allright, I didn't know if there was anything special to do. See, I don't have a laptop.
Me: Well save up your $$$$!
Her: I have to wait till college!
Me: What? You babysit, don't you?
Her: I want to get the latest technology for college. By then laptops could be like all touch screen, so I'll wait.
Me: You are so disciplined. I never had your patience. Heck, I still don't!
Her: Its one of those things you must be born with so you have it or you don't. Sorry! LOL/JK
(she was confused whether or not she was sorry I think...)
Me: Gimme yours!!!
Her: If I could hand it over to you I wouldn't have it anymore and I'd just come over and take it back because I had no patience for you to give it back.
Me: Curses, foiled again.
Her: Mwahahah! The young one is victorious again!
Little punk...i'm gonna steal her lunch money next time I see her!If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

You can't steal her lunch money...she put it in the bank
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Acer, Toshiba, and Sony all make touchscreen laptops for Windows 7.
(Actually, Sony was planning on a touch screen VAIO for the fall, but I don't know if they have started selling yet.)

Yes but she's 14. It'll be 4 years before college. And so what shames me is - she's WAITING until closer to college to buy a laptop, so whatever she gets will be late model.

WOW! I wish I had that mindset at her age!! I can only hope my kids start thinking that way. They always start out with $$ from birthdays/holidays etc saying they are saving it for something big but then can't hold onto it. I don't know where they get the impulse to buy from ?!?! LOL
