Default US bank says I'm not allowed to pay them off by phone

This is who my car payment is through. I owe them 1053.89 and I have the funds. I have to drive to the local bank to pay them off or else.....

She told me in order to pay the loan off, I would have to drive to the local branch. That's fine by me but.....they can't take my full payment on the phone, but have no other problem with processing many others.

BS, she told me I had until the 15th of this month before the interest changed. Fine.

Just for fun, dare me to call them and pay them 1053.88 over the phone. hehe. See if they take it?

Do you maybe have to sign something? No clue but congratulations on getting the car paid off. Bet that's a huge relief. Way to go girl!

Any bank that I tried to pay over the phone charged a $15 fee. Cheaper to go to the branch. I also find that the less I have to do with them, the better I feel.

No, here in Missouri you have the title of the car, already. (you signed it)

It's a relief but....this s*** is not flying well with me.

Typically pay-offs have to be ran differently than a regular loan payment. Maybe there phone system is unequipped to do that? Who knows--it sucks for you to have to make an extra trip.

And I am NOT daring you to do it by phone because I am not a fan of allowing banks to dip their hands into your account. I know you've heard my soapbox rant a time or two so I'll spare you the lecture.

    Congrats on the pay-off.

Yeah, I think there's some paperwork there at the end. They can't do that over the phone.

I'd go to the bank and pay it off. I'd also ask them the reasoning for not being able to payoff on the phone.

Just me, but I would want written documentation that the loan is Paid in Full. Just my opinion, for your protection, go to the local branch and handle it. This way if there is any residual interest that shows up you can supply proof it was PIF.

I have had my fair share of US Bank bs also. About 3.5 years ago, I was unemployed after my company finished a contracted job. I went from making plenty of money to cover my expenses, to barely making ends meet. During this time I had an OD fee which resulted in my checking account going into the negative. Not having income, I wasn't able to correct the balance. Along comes US Bank's $7 a day fee for being negative and BAMO, I never could catch up. I called the bank to try to reach an agreement. The sweet lady on the phone advised me to close the account THAT DAY and open another account at a different bank. She said US Bank policy sucked and to get out while I could. WOW, from their own employee....
