Angry So annoyed with my bank!!!

So my husband and I have 2 checking accounts one with ING and the other with citizens bank. The Citizens bank is so that we can deposit money since my Husbands second job is all cash. I don't really use the bank for anything other then to pay my student loans and if I need to write a check. Hubby has been with this bank for over 10 years and we switched to a joint account for over 3 years. We had a few savings account but they kept charging us fees and messing with our money so we closed them and put all our savings into ING. Well the other night my husband deposited money after work. He put it in the atm like he always does. He put in cash like always. Well a few days later I logged on to my account and saw they charged us $1. I called and was informed that anytime you deposit money now whether it be cash or check you are charged a fee. They said it is a new policy and even if we go into the bank we will be charged. I want to switch banks but now I feel everybody will start doing this. I understand some fees but come on you are charging me to deposit money!! It wasn't even a large deposit it was only $200. They took the fee off this time but said they will not be doing it again. So my question is what should I do? My options are put the money into the bank only once a month so I am only charged the fee once instead of everytime? Give my mom the money to put into her account and she will send the check to the student loan? Or should I just start sending money orders to pay my student loans?

My bank not only doesn't charge you to deposit money into your own account. If I go to a different bank and use their ATM they will reimburse me. How about trying a credit union.
We all need to fight back and by that I mean if your bank is charging you for more things; leave them. When BOA took over LaSalle they started making you have a large amount of cash in checking to keep it free. I left them.

This is our money and we need to keep it.

I would have a new bank before hubby's next payday. There are thousands of banks out there that do not charge fees, you may have to look around some, but there is no reason you should have to pay to deposit money! That's outrageous!

Banks don't care how long you have been with them, they are in it to make money. Get out before they start charging for withdrawals too!

I agree with everyone else you need to change banks ASAP! In the meantime if you don't find one quick enough I would get money orders.

Having worked in the banking industry, I can tell you that is a ridiculous fee!

There are absolutely 100% banks and credit unions that do not charge you to deposit money.

Change banks! Often times, the smaller, local banks are easier to work with than the big chains.

Why would you even CONSIDER keeping this bank if they are going to put you through the above listed HASSLE for YOUR money?

I agree with the others.........GET OUT! yesterday!!!

I agree with everyone else. This is an outrageous fee. I can see where it will save the bank money though, because soon they can get rid of all their tellers because they won't have any customers left.

They want to charge you $1.00 so that they can accept your deposit, loan 9x the money you just deposited out, and collect interest upon it?

    **** them! They're fired!

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Well I am looking into 2 credit unions at the moment. I am looking at TruMark and also Franklin Mint. If anybody knows any pros or cons of either I would love to hear. The one thing I don't like about TruMark is that you can use PNC bank atm's and I don't know if they are part of the same company or not. I will never ever do business with PNC they are a horrible bank. I am leaning more towards Franklin Mint because right now they have a saving account with 7% up to $500 and the holiday savings is at 3% and right now my Xmas fund in ING is get 1/20%.

I'd switch banks. As someone who frequently deposits checks from reimbursements and such, that fee would bug the crap out of me.

I had Mellon Bank/Citizens Bank when I lived in Pittsburgh. Probably the worst account terms I have EVER had to deal with. Fees for EVERYTHING. In hindsight, I should have been smarter than to deal with them, but oh well.

Drop them, I'm sure you can find a credit union or another bank that will give you much better terms.

I have NEVER had to pay ANY fee for ANY transaction I have done with my home bank at their ATMS. It's not your fault Citizens apparently can't handle their money.

    Drop them, they deserve it!

Story of my life. In 2007 we had 78000 worth of debt, and we climbed out under it, on top of paying for a surgery with cash, bought a house, had a foundation shift and $11000 in repairs later we are good to go.. then I hear the words "I'm pregnant!"

I'd suggest looking for another bank. There's no reason that a bank should be charging anything for you to put money in it. It sounds like someone's trying to make a fast buck off of their members.
