I balance each month when the bank statement comes in the mail. For the first time, the bank has screwed up and charged me $2 that I would not have realized had I not balanced each month. It may only be $2, but if they did that each month, and I never reconciled, then I would be giving them $24 a year for no good reason. Besides, it only takes about 10 minutes to reconcile a month.

I balance mine within a few days of receiving it. And I balance to the penny.
