A humorously sad examination of the modern "American Dream"...

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

love it! this is exactly what goes through my head when see all of the yuppie-ish types who come into my bar and ask me why I'm still a bartender when i have a degree.
They can't understand that I make more working less hours that when I was in PR and I enjoy my job!
When I'm debt free in 2 years and they're still working 50 hrs a week to make minimum payments on CC's and 100K car loans...they'll get it...nah, probably not.

"We did it! We're middle class!"

Frankly, I like the challenge of getting out of debt. I love the idea that each week we are defeating our debt a little more each time. That is very encouraging for me. I don't know what I'll do when it's gone and I have everything paid for -- "lucky" for me I have a husband who likes to dream big and has plans for lots of purchases to pay off.
