I am so proud of my bank
Their security rocks!! Both vehicles needed fuel this morning. I needed to go to Sam's anyway so I just followed hubby in and he filled up both then parked my van. He came in to pick up a couple things for work put that on his debt card to then said "bye" to us and went to work. Just after the bank opened we got a call because our account was flagged for questionable transactions. (Filling up my van alone should send out the flags
) I wasn't even home yet. I called hubby and he called them. It was just us! Whew! I went from having the stuffing scared out of me to very grateful in moments!!

That happened to me once. I met ds at the gas station to fill up the cars. I ran the card once for my van and once for his car.
When I got home, the bank had called. The account was flagged.
They said whenever there are two transaction in a row at a gas station, they flag it. It is where most cc/debit cards are used when stolen.
I told them that I had made both purchases and thanked them for being on the ball.
My mil left her debit card at a fast food restaurant. When she got home, the card had been taken to the nearest gas station and over $100 had been charged to her account.

My bank does that too. I get a call every time I order prescriptions online, and usually when my husband orders computer parts or model kits from Hong Kong. It's in both our interests to catch any suspicious activity ASAP.

Awesome!
I use my bank card for pretty much everything we buy since I have rewards linked to it but there have been a few times when DH used his card for a couple of large purchases and we got a call from the bank pretty quick. It's great that they are really watching out for us.

It's generally a good idea to let your bank know if you are travelling out of state/country etc. The call 2ndGen took was the first step in a process--if she hadn't responded, they would have left a message. If they got no response with 24 (or 48 depending on the bank), they would have frozen the card. Imagine how much that would suck if you were 3 states and your card was frozen. (This is also why it's a good idea to give the bank your cell number).
Anytime hubby leaves for his military training, we let the bank know. Can you imagine how quickly his card would get flagged when transactions started showing up from Mississippi, California, Afhganistan, etc?McD

Great bank............makes you feel good too.
Never had that happen---lately. Years ago they called my cousin when I was out of the country.........I was using the card---had her name and address on it for billing.

yeah, whenever i travel i let both my bank and USAA credit card know I am traveling.
also my bank calls at funky gas station transactions and pawn shop transactions. I like to shop at pawn shops.11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

I signed up for alerts for when my card is used. I like it as it gives me a chance to be in a habit of checking my card.
